Sad to see Sturrock and Yeovil rock bottom, but he saved us, for sure. Brown, to be fair, has picked up the baton and continued the progress under Ron Martin who deserves credit now surely.

Can't argue with that (you know I would if I could).

Unfortunately the sort of credit Ron Martin needs is unlikely to be readily available to him.

Agree with all comments about defending, but we are proving tough to beat. At the beginning of the season, I thought we might struggle but feel more reassured by just about every game.

While I totally agree with other comments that the defending was shocking for our goals they still need to be finished off. At the begining of the season and a lot of last season we weren't taking our chances. I feel like that is starting to change now. Our shooting in general seems to have improved throughout the whole team.

Without that elusive attacking coach that everyone cried out for and PB/RM were blind to not see themselves. Again, full credit to our full management team....including the Chairman and Owner....:Worthy:

Nothing sloppy in Pyne's goal - quality finish!

After all the comments about their poor defending I assumed that it came off an Oldham defender. If you look carefully its actually a great lay off from Mooney.

Southend do really well to keep the ball alive for Mooney's goal and a cracking pass to Hurst for the third. Two brave headers from Worrall and Prosser. Just when everyone expects us to blow it at 3-2 we strike back immediately down the other end. Why some on the zone can't enjoy a rare goal fest is strange but hardly surprising.

A few points to make. Hurst starting to become more influential again, some decent crossing. Bodies in the box makes a hell of a difference, Worrall a great header, oldhams defending woeful, ours not much better, looked like we were playing on ice! Great win though.

In fairness both their goals were scored after a Southend player slipped over. For the first it was Barratt, and the second was Coker.

having just watched the highlights, their goals were down to our defensive clangers. good job their defensive clangers were more frequent than ours

The vast majority of goals are down to defensive mistakes as football is a game that is built on errors.
Usually, the team that commits the least errors wins. Think about it.

Don't bother me how bad our defending was, I am sure our centre back are beating themselves up about the two goals that Oldham scored. It's another's points to safety!

that will be why Phil doesn't train the attackers, its all pointless as we can only score if the opostiion makes mistakes:winking:
