First goalkeeper ever to save a penalty in a penalty shoot-oit.Ian McKechnie - Wikipedia

Have now read the wiki article which confirms that and elaborates that he was also the first to concede a goal in a shoot out. George Best scored that first one and he saved from Denis Law - what a couple of players to share records with!First goalkeeper ever to save a penalty in a penalty shoot-oit.
I recall seeing him take a penalty at Roots Hall. He was a sturdily built chap who could kick a ball quite hard. He hammered his kick against the bar, rebounding as far as the half way line and an opposing goal was only just averted while he trundled back. I don't believe he took any more penalties. I'd be obliged (and surprised) if anyone could remind me what match it was?Have now read the wiki article which confirms that and elaborates that he was also the first to concede a goal in a shoot out.
