OD - Week 4

End of Over 29: 119-3, runrate=4.10, reqrunrate=2.33 (167-10)
Huddlestone 5-1-12-0
Tapp* 8 (23 balls)
Browne 32 (51 balls)

Last Wicket: Philip c. Huddlestone b. Henry 26 (FOW: 88/3)

Should be a-okay from here. Just looked on the TM. Where are all the decent bowlers on the market? Only 1 decent allrounder but i fear he will be more expensive than normal due to the limited availability of players!

Got the best team in the league next week, so a win here is crucial!

Lea or Schoeman are available at the right price......

Made 318-5, with Davenport getting a long overdue 137. Good score but it is a hard and fast pitch on a sunny day, and this shows from their innings.

End of Over 27: 130-0, runrate=4.81, reqrunrate=8.22 (318-5)
Deakin 7-0-32-0
Lampard* 59 (73 balls)
Whitehouse 67 (89 balls)

Pleased with the run rate, means we should have it comfortably, but not a great performance with the ball. Still, they are top heavy with the batting so it's no surprise.

Well i have 6.2 million in the bank and the plan is to sell Tapp for 5 million so that would give me about 10 million quid to spend and i want to do it sooner rather than later. Im guessing Lea is more within my price range seeing as Schoeman with a 6 figure rating will be more like 12 million?! PM or leave a message with ratings!!

:D

Muse - did you do anything especialluy different in your cup game to beat Bobby's?! I need as much help as i can get!

:D

Won by 7 wickets- Wheat keeps his record of a half-century in every competitive Petts innings so far, Horsey sees us home on 58 n.o.

GFI'd. Also set my bowlers to a more defensive look than usual, and swapped Sipho and Cronin so that Sipho (the better bowler) has 5 overs in the last ten to skittle through them, although as it turned out Cronin got the wickets. Used my spinners in the middle overs to strangle them, and they managed to keep chipping away with regular wickets.

Basically, get Qasaria out cos he's crap, hope you can dislodge one of Fisher, Butt and Brammar (all of their wages/BTR are distorted in that all 3 of their best bats are all-rounders/wk) quickly, then keep it tight and whack on your best seamer at the end.

Lewis Lea - 22 yo, BT Rating=74,237
RH Batsman, LFM Bowler, superb batting form, strong bowling form, invigorated fitness.
A defensive player with mediocre leadership skills and woeful experience.
Stamina: proficient Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: superb Concentration: remarkable
Bowling: wonderful Consistency: superb
Fielding: respectable

Carl Schoeman - 21 yo, BT Rating=103,912
LH Batsman, RF Bowler, superb batting form, competent bowling form, energetic fitness.
An attacking player with mediocre leadership skills and feeble experience.
Stamina: strong Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: quality Concentration: masterful
Bowling: quality Consistency: wonderful
Fielding: superb

You're looking at 11m + for either of them.....

Should be a win, but you can never tell

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Royston Vasey

Royston Vasey won the toss and elected to field.
Pitch: Green

End of Over 35: 184-3, runrate=5.26, reqrunrate=8.53 (311-3)
Middleton 8-0-36-0
Yeomans* 50 (58 balls)
Speed 2 (5 balls)

Last Wicket: Harley Run Out 56 (FOW: 178/3)

Edit - will be a comfortable win now

36.3 W Middleton to Green
That's gone high into the stratosphere but it's come down straight into the keeper's gloves!
36.2 W Middleton to Speed
Speed has struck that a long way in the air. Schoeman could sign an autograph while he waits for this one to come down. Out!

I'd love to have an attacking fast bowler BB. If he was just a bowler I'd have made an offer.

just noticed the team i beat were the league leaders going into today, happy days. pulled ourselves back to competitive positions in both leagues after a shaky start, might be 3rd in OD after today's games.

Im liking Schoeman!! Give me a few more weeks and i'll be there with Schoeman. Perhaps the mid season break could be a good one!! I need a quickie.

Cheers for the advice Muse. I am GFI'ing all my OD games this season as it is! I might try and save Guy for the middle orders in next weeks game then. I'll set Raven (2) and Jackman (1) as the opening pair, so that way Raven comes back on in the 41st over. That leaves Guy, Tapp and Titterton to bowl the middle overs! The problem, as normal, will be my batters and what to do with them and how many runs they can score! Anything over 200, and im asking a bit too much, at this level anyway!

Kev

Won by 6 wickets! :)

Browne's 52* seals the game for us and i reckon had we batted first, we could have got a pretty useful total as we still had 10 overs left! Titterton and Philip got us underway with a good quick start which set the game up nicely. Guy's 6-24 helped!

:D

General Stars won the toss and elected to field.

Going to be close seeing as Mcveigh is haemorrhaging runs

End of Over 41: 271-4, runrate=6.61, reqrunrate=10.11 (361-2)
Mcveigh 6-0-50-1
Tumelo* 151 (120 balls)
Mohato 4 (5 balls)

Last Wicket: Smith lbw b. Hulse 11 (FOW: 264/4)

Woo

43.2 W Cahill to Canning
Wicket! Canning hammers the ball to mid off, but he hasn't got on top of it, and it's an easy catch for Gamage. He didn't have to move for that one.
43.1 W Cahill to Tumelo
The gap between Tumelo's bat and pad could have let an oil tanker through. Tumelo's stumps are scattered and he trudges off despondently to the pavilion while Cahill is engulfed by his team mates with Bowden and Wright leading the high fives.

Extra Woo

43.4 W Cahill to Teece
A classic run out blunder here. Teece has been called through by the non-striker, only to have him change his mind two strides into the run. A great underarm flick pass from Gamage to Bowden and the bails are off and Teece has to go.
43.3 W Cahill to Hockenhull
Blinding catch in the gully by Hulse - that was hit hard and low

Southend United 361-2
Bit by Bats 297-10

End of Over 46: 297-10, runrate=6.46
Barrowdale 7-1-29-3
Mohato* 12 (13 balls)

45.4 W Barrowdale to Jeffers
That's lofted to long off and caught easily by Hoult. Barrowdale bounds around the place like a three-year-old chasing a butterfly in the park, Hoult plays it cool.
45.3 W Barrowdale to Brosnihan
Brosnihan shoulders arms but it nips back into him and the umpire is quick to raise his finger.

Didn't realised I TIE'd

Tight at the top

1. spitfire 4 4 0 0 16 7.67

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Napster's XI 4 3 0 1 12 8.38
3. Liverpool Vikings 4 3 0 1 12 7.43
4. Lincolnshire Lions 4 3 0 1 12 2.11

Bowled opps out for 100 and lost 1 wicket in the 15 overs it took me. 5 wickets for a trainee spinner and a couple for all rounder who failed with the bat today.

Puts me 3rd and 2 easy games to come followed by a no-chance against runaway leader game. Top 4 shouldn't be a problem - at least I'm enjoying one form of the game.
