OD - Week 2

MrB

Life President
Hahaha, after taking the pee out of Napster yesterday I've gone and done the same myself today.

God knows what my line up will look like. I might get lucky on the basis the players I signed went into the same shirt number as the person they replace.

Hahaha.

Just bought a new batting trainee, who gets 2 nets

Dirk is a LH Batsman and LFM Bowler. He is a steady player with mediocre leadership skills and worthless experience.

He currently has respectable batting form, mediocre bowling form and lively fitness.

Plays For: Napster's XI
Nationality: Australia
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 8,033 (-255)
Wages: £1,305 p/w

Stamina: respectable Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: respectable Concentration: mediocre
Bowling: respectable Consistency: worthless
Fielding: worthless

Im guessing at that wage he's a high respectable.

Dropping a few players for PFL, playing a side ranked well below me, so PAN and hopefully should be an easy win.

Well, I'd have thought it would logically have taken the next three in the list to fill the three spaces. But no, it's taken random ones and so my bowling attack is being opened by two reserve batsmen. I couldn't even have been lucky and picked reserve bowlers! Have taken my eye massively off the ball recently and will get relegated as a result as I've now lost two of my 'easier' games. Very frustrating.

Im guessing at that wage he's a high respectable.
Alas no, he's respectable in three skills so is likely to be low in all three. Even if stamina and bowling are at base respectable I reckon you'll still need 5 or 6 weeks for the pop.

Southend v Seaside Special (4524666)

Welcome to The Garrison for the match between Southend and Seaside Special.

We can tell you that Seaside Special won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking a touch on the green side. All the seam bowlers have been out there rubbing their hands on this sunny day.

They've thrown this game, resting all the bowlers and playing about three batsmen. Annoying I have to bat first but never mind, will take it!

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Lampys Lightning

Home to a side that lost last week. Everybody plays, but some PFl starting to look a bit suspect after yesterday's marathon efforts to save the game. Therefore we've re-jigged the batting order, and have Evelyn and Pollock hiding at 7 and 8.

We can tell you that BATTY SHRIMPERS won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking quite cracked! A field day for the seam bowlers I would reckon on this sunny day.

End of Over 10: 46-1, runrate=4.60
Schoeman 5-1-24-0
Peters* 27 (32 balls)
Ferrell 10 (21 balls)

Last Wicket: Stuart lbw b. Singh 8 (FOW: 12/1)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIBS DIPPERS v wakatipu

Mrs BB failed to pick up her all-rounder this morning being out-bid by Labrooy, therefore hre team is somewhat depleted today. She's got out the best she can, but it won't be enough.

We can tell you that wakatipu won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking quite cracked! A field day for the seam bowlers I would reckon on this sunny day.

End of Over 11: 33-3, runrate=3.00
Devonish 1-0-9-0
Hutton* 2 (4 balls)
Stride 13 (19 balls)

Last Wicket: Potter lbw b. Dowie 2 (FOW: 21/3)

playing one of the stronger teams today, Colts. They were scoring quickly at 70-2 but Harmison and Cairns between them have just taken 5 wickets in 8 balls, magical stuff...

14.2 W Cairns to Faulkner
Classic catch in the outfield. That will certainly make the post-match highlights reel. Faulkner trudges back to the pavilion in a state of disbelief.
14.1 W Cairns to Tumisang
Tumisang advances down the track, swings, misses, and sets off for the dressing room without looking back. Easy stumping for Odonague.

End of Over 14: 71-5, runrate=5.07
Harmison 2-0-9-3
Tumisang* 1 (1 balls)
Carlisle 0 (0 balls)

Last Wicket: Hodgson lbw b. Harmison 0 (FOW: 71/5)

13.6 W Harmison to Hodgson
Harmison traps Hodgson plumb with aplomb.
13.5 . Harmison to Hodgson
Good length on middle and off. Hodgson turns his wrists and pushes it to midwicket.
13.4 W Harmison to Watson
Good length ball outside off stump, nipping in off the wicket. Watson moves forward and tries to square drive, but only manages a big inside edge onto the stumps.
13.3 . Harmison to Watson
Even with the inswing, that ball was never going to bother the stumps, and Watson let it go safely through to Odonague.
13.2 1 Harmison to Tumisang
Tumisang has edged that past the one slip but they pick up a single as it is stopped by Hamilton at third man.
13.1 W Harmison to Vusi
Gone, what a ball. Vusi prods forward uncertainly to a good length delivery and the ball nips away just enough to beat the bat before neatly removing the off bail. Perfect delivery from Harmison.

McCloud doing well.

End of Over 16: 66-2, runrate=4.13
Mccloud 3-0-9-1
Tuck* 14 (14 balls)
Grady 36 (47 balls)

Last Wicket: Hinton c. Broadbridge b. Mccloud 0 (FOW: 41/2)

I'm not actually at full-strength, Beggsie misses out, and Superb/Superb Henderson gets his OD debut.

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Lampys Lightning

BATTY SHRIMPERS won the toss and elected to field.
Pitch: Green

End of Over 16: 79-3, runrate=4.94
Henderson 3-0-12-0
Ferrell* 32 (42 balls)
Watt 2 (5 balls)

Last Wicket: Meyer b. Lindop 0 (FOW: 70/3)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mrs BB in trouble.

DIBS DIPPERS v wakatipu

Pitch: Green

End of Over 17: 66-4, runrate=3.88
Devonish 4-0-27-1
Morgan* 3 (2 balls)
Hutton 9 (25 balls)

Last Wicket: Stride c. Ford b. Devonish 34 (FOW: 63/4)

Lol, Tate got their best batsman out.

End of Over 20: 132-2, runrate=6.60
Tate 5-0-42-1
Shotton-oza* 1 (1 balls)
Fowler 80 (69 balls)

Last Wicket: Neal c. Lamey b. Tate 28 (FOW: 129/2)

Liking the new feature in Blackout Rugby, they've introduced an eBay style 'max bid' which makes it a lot easier to go for players who's deadline is at obscure hours:

New Bid
Friday 29th Jan 2010, 3:48am
BrockVH

Tomsey of the WAC club placed a bid of $522,307 on your player: Michael Stewart, and was immediately outbid by an auto-bid of $532,753 from Templar of the Trojans club.
Would be a good thing to introduce to BT I'd say.

And another good feature in Blackout is the 'scouting', you can set certain criteria and when a player is listed who meets those criteria you get an alert:

Didier Chulle from the Va Va Voom club has been placed on the transfer market for $750,000.

This player was scouted by your "Lock" scout rule.
Blackout is developing fast and turning into a very good game. Shows how slow the development on BT has been.

B - don't tell me that's another game I might have to get into!!

Another defeat today by 9 wickets. This season is going to be a tough one. In FC I've lost by an innings to 2 of the average teams in the division, and in OD I'll be in a play off for relegation. Maybe I should focus on Twenty20 for a change

Here's the ratings, no wonder I was stuffed

Mountcalm won the toss and elected to field.
Reporter's Summary Mountcalm The Flying Scotsmen
Top Order: quality proficient
Middle Order: proficient competent
Lower Order: abysmal woeful
Seam Bowling: quality proficient
Spin Bowling: elite strong
Fielding: feeble woeful

Need some wickets, and fast....

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Lampys Lightning

BATTY SHRIMPERS won the toss and elected to field.
Pitch: Green

End of Over 32: 163-3, runrate=5.09
Henderson 6-0-27-0

Watt 41 (51 balls)

Last Wicket: Meyer b. Lindop 0 (FOW: 70/3)

Mrs BB still in trouble.

DIBS DIPPERS v wakatipu

wakatipu won the toss and elected to field.
Pitch: Green

End of Over 32: 123-5, runrate=3.84
Rea 6-0-32-0
Eagles* 10 (28 balls)
Morgan 31 (45 balls)

Last Wicket: Hutton b. Deane 27 (FOW: 97/5)

Away at co-division regulars Idlers, had an awful start with the ball but managed to slightly reduce the run rate, they're currently at 198-4 in the 38th over. Have a full-strength batting line up so still reasonably confident of a result.

Keeping the score low...

End of Over 38: 126-4, runrate=3.32
Mccloud 9-1-24-1
Tuck* 42 (71 balls)

Cliffe* 16 (37 balls)
Kananelo 1 (1 balls)
Last Wicket: Beckett b. Sharma 0 (FOW: 203/7)

40.4 W Sharma to Beckett
Sharma is on a lap of honour after that delivery rips Beckett's middle stump clean out of the ground. The crowd are chanting his name...
40.3 W Sharma to Donnelly
That's terribly close...And the Umpire's given it. Well bowled by Sharma and Donnelly's got to go.
40.1 W Sharma to Constable
Constable slashes at a ball angled across him, gets a big edge and Birkett takes a one-handed diving catch at full stretch.

Great stuff from Sharma, in to the tail now.

41.4 W Brook to Kananelo
An utter ripper from Brook as he pitches it up, swinging into Kananelo's stumps and then seaming away, smashing the off stump out of the ground.

And another one.

If we can get them out for 235, I'll be very happy...

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Lampys Lightning

BATTY SHRIMPERS won the toss and elected to field.
Pitch: Green

End of Over 45: 220-6, runrate=4.89
Schoeman 8-1-37-2
Burton* 11 (13 balls)
Livermore 1 (2 balls)

Last Wicket: Bradford c. Evelyn b. Schoeman 7 (FOW: 218/6)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mrs BB will do well to win from here...

The players are off the field for the break between innings.

End of Over 46: 172-10, runrate=3.74
Deane 7-0-20-4
Eagles* 29 (57 balls)

End of Over 47: 221-10, runrate=4.70
Sharma 8-1-32-5
Cliffe* 29 (50 balls)

46.1 W Sharma to West
Amazing! That ball seamed in a mile and has struck West on his pads. Sharma appeals for the LBW and the umpire has no hesitation in raising the finger.

And done.
