Northampton Town

Hmmm. I'm actually really worried about Northampton. We may have beaten them three times this season but we were very lucky in both the league games. I've got this horrible feeling we'll get them in the play-offs (yes, I'm not confident about the automatics yet) and this time they might actually take their chances - particularly with Kirk in the side, who looks pretty lethal in front of goal to me and has already put three past us this season. Plus, they still have Josh Low to come back from injury, who is possibly the most talented attacking player in the division. Make no mistake, the Cobblers are still a big threat.

Roots Hall is what is known as a proper football ground, not that you'd recognise one of those because you've only ever known playing at a cricket ground and in a DIY superstore!

With them only being five points behind us should we be considering the Cobblers to be a real threat to us getting an automatic spot?

Also, if they are gambling on spending a bit of cash like this, should we be thinking about strengthening too? This is a massive statement of intent on behalf of Northampton and frankly its got me rather concerned.

What for ?

We've got Freddy !

They missed him !

Yeovil apart, we are the next best in this division and with out doubt we will do Yeovil at home which will make us the best even though we will not win the division.

Just a friendly reply. Saying we are the biggest spending club isnt exactly true as we havent paid a transfer fee for anyone before Kirk since last season, we've been using free transfers and loan signings. All credit to you for your victories this season, they were deserved as we have the inability recently to turn performances into points. And as for our non-league stadium, we have submitted plans to extend the stadiums capacity. So we'll see you next year, if you get promoted. Revenge will be sweet.

Why? Who do you support then?

Seems to me your biggest problem this year has been any kind of consistency. Every good result seems to be followed by a disappointing one within the next few games.

In contrast, consistency, or at least being very difficult to beat, has been one of our biggest assets and if we get up, the draws will have played no small part.

Shotgun we don't get in to the 'my club's bigger than yours' debate...

We're about the same size.  End of.
You need to tell Ron manager that.
With respect mate, f**k off back to your soulless meccano stadium. It's like playing football in a B&Q!

tounge.gif

On a more serious note, whatever the various merits and sizes of the two clubs off the pitch the fact remains that on it we are a superior team than you and have proved it over the season - despite the money you have spent. We are going to the Millenium Stadium (beating you on the way) and we are in with a shout of automatic promotion (oh yeah, beating you on the way to that as well).
pr*ck, how can you have proved it over the season? With thirty odd points to play for there's a lot of season left yet. I admire your confidence. You better hope I don't have cause to shove it down your throat.

Knock our stadium all you like, it wipes the floor with your series of cowsheds lined up and filled with all the atmosphere of a library.
your stadium sums up all hate about these new lego set grounds.

Built in the middle of knowhere on some poxy industrial estate with a sh*te themed pub and about as much atmosphere as the local bingo hall. At least our stadium is near to the town centre, has plenty of pubs with character and a good atmosphere inside.

You can stick your new stadiums up your arse.

Well ! How intelectual you are !

Would much rather be in our new stadium than our old one. And true consistancy has been our problem, too many loanees coming in and out, players getting injured for long periods. But we're still there or thereabouts in the play offs, all we need is a good run starting at the dire-ones this weekend. Would be nice to meet u at cardiff, then we'll see who has the better fans!

We are taking the express ticket to league 1..

You are welcome to your play-off struggle!.

Look forward to NOT seeing you next season..

Who has the best fans? In a worldwide survey Southend's fans were voted third most passionate in Europe this season:

1) Barcelona
2) Lens
3) Southend United
4) Lazio
5) Belenenses

In complete contrast Northampton only came 14,789th behind such luminaries as Laci (Albania), ENP (Cyprus), Trans (Estonia) and Rushden and Diamonds (England).

To put it in perspective, the sales of blue flares, smokebombs and airhorns in Southend have seen a 300% increase this season.

.....well we shall see come May - just for the record a few of your fans drinking in a pub near Sixfield were complete gentlemen, accepting that they were more than a little lucky in the first game this season but which of course balanced out us mugging you the season before.

Last game here should have been a draw but you took your chances so fair play, the wotsit cup we were sh*te & you far better on the night.

Fan numbers, stadium size etc etc who really gives a toss.

A bit like (but hopefully not completely like!) Mansfield last year I've a feelingwe'll meet again..................

I'd be more than happy to beat you for the 4th time this season, just think the double, double...

Somehow i dont think we will see you again for a couple of seasons though...

Building us up for a fall there Smiffy. I don't like it!!

Think Barça Chelsea!

Iam glad Northampton signed Kirk as they got Lincoln, Yeovil, Scunthorpe & Swansea at home in the run-in, so they will give us an extra help to Auto promotion.

I think its too much for NTFC to finish in top 3 now with the run-in they got now.

We should not worry about other teams - we have five home games left (including tomorrow) and 15 points from them will at least get us in the play-offs. Two wins and a draw away.... second place isn't beyond us.

Up the Shrimpers !

I've got a horrible feeling this is going to come back and haunt us. Hope I'm proved wrong.
