Northampton Town

Just seen on SSN that Northampton have spent £125k today on Andy Kirk of Boston. Thats a huge amount of money to spend on a striker at this level. With them only being five points behind us should we be considering the Cobblers to be a real threat to us getting an automatic spot?

Also, if they are gambling on spending a bit of cash like this, should we be thinking about strengthening too? This is a massive statement of intent on behalf of Northampton and frankly its got me rather concerned.

They've been by far the biggest spenders in this division and it hasn't exactly bought them success has it?

They have a non-league ground and are a smaller club than us. So they've got an owner throwing money at them? He'll get bored of another season in League 2 in front of sh*tty crowds. Wave them goodbye over our shoulders at the end of the season I say!

If I remember he scored his first goal for them, against us in October, so it's our fault! At that time the Boston fans thought he was crap. Oh how their opinions have changed now.

Thing is though, Freddy could fetch more than that now, so you just have to think of it that we're sorted already.

Oh and as a side note, there has been this one particular Charlton scout at our last 3 home games. Doesn't take too much to work out that he's looking at Freddy, what with him having a months trial there last year.

We've taken 6 points off them this season and are 5 points ahead. If they finish above us it will be because we've blown it rather than them being a threat. They can't hurt us anymore unless we meet them in the play offs.

Then I hope he goes to the games I go to because unfortunately haven't seen Eastood play particularly well in any of the few games i have been to and had to wait until Chester to see him score his first goal.

If we had Freddy from the start of the season he would probably have as many goals as Kirk. Automatic promotion is in our hands now so i don't really see them any more a threat to us than before. However i wouldn't want to meet Northampton in the playoffs, they are due a victory over us.

If you are a bigger club than us how come your average attendance is lower than ours

With respect mate, f**k off back to your soulless meccano stadium. It's like playing football in a B&Q!

On a more serious note, whatever the various merits and sizes of the two clubs off the pitch the fact remains that on it we are a superior team than you and have proved it over the season - despite the money you have spent. We are going to the Millenium Stadium (beating you on the way) and we are in with a shout of automatic promotion (oh yeah, beating you on the way to that as well).

Big up to Ron for that witty retort!
I'm beginning to think you are me, the amount of times we seem to agree on stuff!

pr*ck, how can you have proved it over the season? With thirty odd points to play for there's a lot of season left yet. I admire your confidence. You better hope I don't have cause to shove it down your throat.

Knock our stadium all you like, it wipes the floor with your series of cowsheds lined up and filled with all the atmosphere of a library.

**** off you ******,

2-1...

0-2...

1-2...

Nuff said really

Oh and as for bigger attendances, that will change between now and May and anyway whats a few hundred difference?!!.

Heheheheh. This is like shooting fish in a barrel but still .....

Northampton, by virtue of being near the middle of the country, attract more visiting supporters to their ground than most other teams in the division. It's therefore quite easy to spot that there aren't actually more Northampton fans going to games than Southend fans.

And one-on-one, it's been played 3, Southend won 3, Northampton lost 3. After 36 league games, Southend are 5 points clear of Cobblers. It's plainly evident at this time that Southend are better than Northampton.

And hey, Sixfields capacity, 7,500? And this AFTER you've moved to a purpose built ground! Roots Hall, even in its' current state, holds 12,400. Our new ground will, of course, have an increased capacity, and not downsized like Northampton did when they moved.

Any more? How about 700 - tops - Northampton turning up to Roots Hall but over 1,100 Shrimpers travelling to the return match? 20,000+ Shrimpers at Cardiff last year, nil Cobblers. 2 Cup Finals on the trot compared to zilch? Had enough?

Instead of resorting to childish sulking or insults, face the fact that Southend are simply superior to Northampton. Proven in every conceivable way. Live with it.
