Why on earth is he not starting Payne and Eastwood, if only to settle some of the debate on here.

Rotten luck with centre backs or what! Coughlan will be dusting his boots off at this rate. Feel Straker and Barney lucky to be in that lineup. Neither have done jack on the last month. If Payne is impressing brown why not start him?

Great, Thompson does well and is then injured. Why cant we lose a midfielder for once, we have loads of them!

Strange Payne not in after he has been talked about prior to the game.

Why is he so reluctant to change an underperforming side? I get not changing a winning side, but we've been pretty underwhelming to say the least lately.

Wanted to see Payne start at least. We appear to be lacking creativity, which Laird won't bring. I rate Laird highly but he's not a playmaker, he's a steady the ship kind of player. All Brown has really done is make one forced change in midfield due to Lenny playing right back and dropped Hurst for Barnard (why?).

Really like Tango, but getting a bit frustrating now. Watch them go and win 6-0 now I've said this!

There have been loads of people on here saying Hurst is out of form and should be dropped.

Not something I agree with because even if he is out of form so is the rest of the team but he has done what many have said he should do.

As for not making changes he has changed formation, thats pretty major. Plus Laird is back to make 3 changes (enforced or not)

Seeing more and more youth players on the bench, starting to run out of steam again like last season and getting smashed by injuries.

This a better balanced 4-4-2 though with Laird back. Laird gives a bit of protection to the back 4. Glad Hurst has been dropped, just hope Straker and Atkinson keep wide. White will at least offer a bit more mobility at the back. In the past when we have all thought certain defeat, we have grabbed a win. Lets hope today is one of those days

Three changes for Southend United at Northampton Town

SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has made three changes to his starting line-up for tonight’s game at Northampton Town with Lee Barnard, Marc Laird and Mark Phillips all coming back in to the side.

Just dont get it.

Top goal scorer. Top assists.

Rest of the team also out of form.

Goals hard to come by.

Still, we have Straker, lets hope he can provide the ammunition for the front two.
