Agree that it's a nice ground to look at - but I played my first senior game there, and all I can remember is the bloody church bells behind the goal never stopped ringing. Did my head in!
Ground does have character! I think they are back in Eastern counties league now after leaving for a while.I know they are one of the oldest clubs in Essex.

Out of interest and I am totally in the dark about much of the non-league scene, but why cant The Blues have a non-contract team or whatever in a local league so that we can see a lot of lads in training and in action? I would have thought the association with the club and the possibility of being noticed would entice a lot of talent to join up. Is it against regulations? Its a way of trialing a lot of lads and seeing more of them and of course free from salary.

Better still why cant Southend play there reserve side in the local league, that way at least the players not getting a game would be able too,and also surely it would generate a lot more interest in the local sceneform others teams plus there supporters.:omg:

I am sure that any team cant have more than one side in the pyramid.
Those on here with far greater knowledge of the non league set up will know
40 odd years ago, my dad was the trainer at woodford town, they played in the Metropolitan League and the league had several pro sides 3rd teams (Usually the 16-18 year old
One week Spurs first team did not have a game so the they played in the Combination (reserve league ) and the reserves played for the thirds. Gave Woodford a real tonking. ..

Correct. But there are a couple of clubs who have found ways round it such as CRC (at Cambridge Utd) and Team Bury (at Bury Town). A "seperate" club with very close links to the parent club.

If they are a seperate club I assume that there are registration issues which would prevent it being run as "True" reserve side

There are dual registrations and loans which need to be "managed" so, yes it's not a true reserve side - but the next best thing.
