No Wingers ???

DTS

The Business
Bit suprised by Tillys comments today about having no wingers. I can think of 4 players of the top of my head that could play there in Nicolau,Kightly,Husbands and Jimmy Corbett.

I know each one fot these has there floors and is a poor mans Gower (Bar Corbett but he is never bloody fit) but if the above four are not considered good enough to start then then should be sold or freed asap to make way for players that can play.

Bet Scotty Forbes is free for a game ( Please God )

i have heard good things about our youth team player i think he is a winger, kurt husnu. husbands has been used a few times this season on the wing but hasnt produced. tilson says corbet isnt fit as he hasnt played for a while, however he has been put on the bench. we can play corbet for at least 60 minutes and if he's knackered then sub him off. he needs games to get fit. the only other possibility is to recall micheal kightly from his loan spell.

I give up on Corbett - Great player in the 5 or so games ive seen him but he has just got one injury after the other.

As for Nicky being a left back if he cant displace Che who I know has been playing well of late but is hardly a good player then we really need to think again about him..???

So are we saying that a player good enough for the likes of Arsenal aint good enough for us? Is our school of excellance better than theirs?...seems to me that Tilly has his favorites and he will stick by them come what may.. dont get me wrong.. we are 4th and thats largely thanks to Tilly and Brush but there have been plenty of games of late when we havent played well yet come the next half, let alone the next game players like Nicky wont get a chance. I thinks its a shame because Nicky was a breath of fresh air when he came into the side on loan and I for one couldnt beleive it when he signed for us!! lets hope he gives Capt. Kev a few pointers on crossing a ball before he leaves for pastures new..

If he was good enough for Arsenal, they wouldn't have let him leave for nowt.

I saw Scott Forbes playing for Heybridge Swifts the other day.
He's filled out a fair bit and now plays centre mid, don't think he'd be a speedy winger anymore.

I'm worried about you and your growing non-league obsession Ed

Non league football offers a welcome respite from the mammon-obsessed Premiersh*te which quite frankly bores me now.

Get yourself down to New Lodge or Scraley Road, you'll enjoy it.

Plus you get to check of Dave McSweeney's progress...

I agree with the post about Nicky he came on in the away games against Bury and Sc**thorpe in a left mid field position and both times he scared the opposition defence with pace and crossing ability. Really dont know what Tilsons problem is with this player. Gower said in the Evening Echo last week that it was time for Nicky to be back in the team. We were desperate for width on Tuesday to break down Mansfields defence and we did not have it. The only way to beat teams who are defending when you play at home is get down the flanks and whip the ball in from the by-line. This will not happen with the team we put out on Tuesday. Please Tilson give us one player to get us excited as he runs down the wing; without Gower the team was flat the support was flat and the atmosphere was flat. He who dares wins Tilson. Nicky out wide left, and this time next year we could all be in league one

I agree, give Nicky a chance! What other options do we have?!

Other than that, getting Dave Lee into the side would be an excellent idea...

I thought you'd chirp up about that! Mind you, its becoming a clearer possibilitity. Nicky has to be given a go. He's placed well enough in the reserve/ESC games to deserve it. As for JC, i can't see him ever playing for us again TBH.

Lawson should be given an go on the wings - if Rooney get into Everton 1st team at age of 16, there is no reason why he should get a chance as Tilson got nothing to lose as we havent got Winger at the moment, with luck - he have someone on loan from Premier$hite side by now.

I was going to suggest Lawson as well. Not sure about starting but surely it'd be better to have him on the bench than Corbett, who it seems as if Tilly has ruled out playing anytime whatsoever even though he is in the 16 at the minute. We're basically one short on the bench if it's going to be like that.

Interesting that a 3rd loan attempt has now been turned down. I notice that Oxford have taken the brilliantly named Doudou on trial. Could he be an option to come in on non contract terms?

Where has that been reported.

Anyways:

Nicky - He is a full back, when Tilson tried to play him left wing and Che left back Vs Yeovil last season it was awful and simply didn't work.

Corbett - I'd like to see him play out on the wing as I feel this is his best position but like Tilly says he hasn't played for nearly 2 months so he'd be best to bring off the bench.

Husbands - He isn't fit, simple as that. I'd still like to see him play out wide.

Kightly - Is still out on loan, might as well leave him out on loan were he'd be guarenteed first team football.

I personally think against Mansfield, Petts should have been on the left and Bramble on the right, why wasn't this the case? If Bramble isn't the answer on the wing, how about Gray wide right leaving Dudders and Freddy up top?
