Nicky Bailey's goal

most of Collymore's were special, but Andy Sussex's 30 yarder was pretty good, at home to someone or other

Andy Sussex in the crucial last game of the season against Luton Town.

What a peach of a goal, in true "take a bow son" style.

I saw Bailey's goal on the TV last night and just gasped.

Paul Byrne hit a few scorchers during his spell at SUFC, one in particular stands out, at home to Norwich City.
The South Upper had been having some great banter with the then City Keeper Bryan Gunn (excellent pro), a certain group of fans were asking him if he'd got his gloves dirty yet following our 'shot-shy' opening 20 minutes.......... moments later Byrne fired in a 30 yard stunner, Gunn responded by looking up at the fans in the South Upper and simply smiled and shrugged his shoulders.

Brilliant !

Anyone else remember the tame effort from, I think, Phil Gridelet that Bryan Gunn let squirm under his body in the rain. How we caned him for giving us the goal. As I recall, we hadn't scored many goals so far, and it was pretty near the beginning of the season. Always remember the song:

"Cheer up Bryan Gunnnnn...
Oh what have you done...
To be, Southend's top scorer with a
Total of One...."

:hilarious:

maher just doesn't score goals like those!

the millwall goals were gutting... why did the wall jump?!

Just seen the goals on Blues world, absolutely gutted. I remember at school our football master always telling us the object of the waall is to grit your teeth andstand still.Once the keeper has told it where he wants it the rest is up to him to cover. The first one Clarke seemed to shrink in the air as he jumped. Instead of getting higher he ended up almost bent double to get out of the way of it!. Can't beleive things like these aren't sorted out in training.

It was incredibly amateurish, and Flavs rightly gave them a good old telling off afterwards. I thought Gower was leading the jump on the right hand side of the wall, but then he is being a bit of a fall guy for most things at present.

Just seen Bailey's goal, superb strike as someone else pointed the technique was top notch! Again poor defending let us down on both goals though!

Bailey's was brilliant.

But what about Damon Searle's against Rushden way back? (2000ish I think)

Yeah that was my vote earlier on in the thread. I was well, well impressed with that hit.

Amazed no-one's mentioned Eastwood's yet against Man Utd. It was pretty decent...

It was a good free-kick but nowhere as good as Bailey's goal or some of the others that have been mentioned.

Baily's goal was sublime, but I think Eastwood's 35 yard shot against Bristol City comes very close.

It was Eastwood's 'longest range' goal, but it was great technique to hit a ball that hard and that accurately into the top corner. Those sort of long distance goals are often smacked at with a 'hope' of it going in. Eastwood looked up and fully intend to hit that ball in that position. Great work.

That was a great goal nice way to round of a hat-trick too! I thought to myself 'hit it' about a second before he did and it was only going in one place once it left his boot!
