I did write the right thing didn't I? And I wasn't referring to that defunct pop group either!

Look, the Sky article clearly says there has been interest from a number of Championship clubs. If you don’t go up and he gets a suitable offer he will leave. Many on here told me there was no chance we would get Eastwood but it was inevitable. In the same way, we will lose Kightly or Hennessey if the money is offered by a bigger club. We were alerted to Bailey by Elokobi's agent, who also represents the Ginger Gerrard. Whether or not we will get him is another matter. QPR can outspend us now – but we have the advantage that you want to sign Mulgrew.

Again proving my point that Finnigan is an 'orrible ****.

Keep him for sure - whatever it takes. A season or two in the Championship will only see his value rise and even if he does want to go then, Nicky will command a tidy fee and it really is a win, win situation.

In addition, if this club is to move forward why would we even be contemplating selling our best player for such a miniscule fee and a player Wolves don't want?

When things like this come up you have to remember that Nicky Bailey is essentially just a worker. He has a short career and aspirations of making as much of a success of it as he can. If Wolves come in for him with a decent offer to both him and us then it would probably have to be accepted. In my mind a decent offer would be one where we'd end up with £500k and Mulgrew after the agents and any sell-ons had been settled, and Bailey earns 10k a week or so with a decent length contract.

The alternative is to give Nicky a contract extension on better terms (i.e. one that more or less match what he would get at Wolves) and then tell Wolves to **** off.

Eastwood still there then...?

You were fairly respectable when you were on here in the summer re Eastwood, but lately, you've really been giving it the Billy Big Bollocks.

Bailey should be going nowhere. Firstly, he loves it here. Secondly, there's no way we'd sell him after a year when we don't need or want to. Thirdly, Wolves have shown that they seem intent on destroying the careers of Southend's best players by buying thm and letting them rot on the bench. Fourthly, Wolves have shown that they have little chance of escaping the Championship and we may well be playing them, if not next season, then the following one.

So.......**** OFF AND GO LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE :madman: :punch:

We are NOT, and never will be, a feeder for bloody Wolverhampton Wanderers, of all clubs :thump:

Sorry to put a bit of a damper on some peoples opinions, but I think there are only a couple of you so far that have grasped the point.

It's all very well saying 'Eff off' to whoever tries to sign him, but we will only be in a nice and strong position to say that if we get promotion this year. If we are still in L1 next year (please, no!) then it will naturally be much harder to reject out of hand the advances of clubs with cash from higher divisions.

Promotion means he'll stay for sure, L1 again means there is a very real chance that someone will come in with a 'proper money' sized offer and he'll be off.

At that price, no chance. I don't think Mulgrew is worth that much to Wolves and we could probably get him for something fairly nominal if we want him.

Bailey I would say is worth somewhere between 600 and 800k

Thats the big problem though isnt it, in this division he is probably worth that ammount, but imagine how much the eqivalent (sp) championship midfielder of his undoubted talent would fetch.... upwards of 1.5 to 2 mill i reckon, thats why i dont believe Ron would sell him.

And personally, I can't see Bailey being the type of player to get in the hump about it, or let his performance be affected by bids being rejected. He seems to be a down to earth guy, and with Tillys convincing skills that Hammell went on about I can see Bailey staying, whether we go up, or not. It depends on the length of his contract though.

Yes Charlie has been impressive last couple of weeks but our Ginger Sex God is going nowhere.

Oh Nicky Bailey, you are the love of my life.
Oh Nicky Bailey, I'd let you shag my wife.
Oh Nicky Bailey, I want Ginger Hair too!!!

To third quote this, I said some time ago that I get the impression that Bailey is the sort of character who would produce the same standard of performance but ultimately his loyalty is to his career and his football rather than to us. I certainly don't begrudge this but more admire the ambition of late developers such as Bailey (and Horsfield and Ian Wright for that matter). It's been a pleasure watching him this season and I hope to watch him again next season but I doubt we can hold him back.

Let's be honest lads, going from us to Wolves is a similar step up as going from Barnet to us was. Maybe it won't be in a couple of years at the new ground, but right now that's the way I see it. I'm sure Bailey does like it here and I suspect that he wouldn't make a big deal out of it if we tied him to the contract that he signed less than a year ago, but if we harbour serious ambitions of keeping hold of players of his ability then we need to be in the Championship.

Not sure about that, last time I looked Wolves were sitting 7th with two games in hand, and a more than good chance of making the play offs. Then as we will find out it all becomes a lottery.

It will largely come down to Bailey himself, if he feels he can better himself by moving to a "bigger" or higher league club, then that's what will happen.
