SUFC: The Future Next season

It will be our season next season finishing up as champions and gone 1 better

One better would surely be winning at Wembley. We need to go 6 better to be Champions.

With so many players under contract next season we need to make full use of the loan system rather than waste Money looking for the next 20 a season man.

One for the statos on here. How many players have we signed and who have scored 20 in their first season

We need a powerful striker along side what we get two loan defenders and a midfielder go from there we get a good squad together sure top 6 we we’ll be

Irrespective of a 20 + goal striker, we need more goals from Midfield next season. Even discounting GSM's goals completely the Defence scored as many goals as our Midfield last season, with only Coker shining on that front. LCP has shown a good goal threat and will contribute, but Noor, Jack, Miley, Morton and KAF only scored 5 league goals in total.

This is interesting because, while he is obviously a very dynamic player, I think his shooting has been really poor.

Corr, Eastwood, Angell, Crown (signed in November scored 17 goals and then 29 in his first full season), Cadette, Phillips (signed in March scored 10 goals and then 20 in his first full season) I think are the only ones in my lifetime which rather suggests that if you don’t do it immediately you won’t be the mythical 20 goal a season player.

I agree, however I think now he has a couple from a combined distance of 6.5 yards he may start to score more regularly.

Hopefully he can get a couple preseason and I would not be surprised if he gets 8-10 next season.

Leon Constantine, who scored 25 in 53 appearances in his single season with us in 2003/04, can be added to that list, but the point made stands.

Yes I have seen them all. Before Phillips I guess it was Spence? With only 2 on the list from this century it proves finding them is not as easy as so many claim on here.

A certain Stan Collymore got 18 in 33 apps so would have got to the magical 20 if he had had a full season.

Derrick Parker in his first full season (1977/78) scored 23 goals (in all competitions). He, of course, replaced Stuart Parker the season before and scored just 6 goals in 21 matches.

Prior to that 1973/74 season saw Stuart Brace scored 22 goals in 38 games (in all competitions) having joined the club 12 league games into the season.

Lee Barnard wasn’t far off in his final season either

@rigsby Derek Spence (is an International!) scored 21 league goals in his first full season with us which was the famous 1980/81 title winning promotion season. Spence had joined us mid season the previous year and scored 5 league goals in 22 appearances.
