Next manager

Coach
if tilson ever gets the sack which i hope he dont.
would we try and get stimmo in?
He Did well at Grays brought some decent players through the ranks and then yesterday won the FA trophy for the 3rd time

Stimson would be a good choice now ...

.... if all we want to win is the Trophy. He didn't finish the job off at Grays and despite a big budget didn't get Stevenage into the play offs.

Initially, i thought Brush would be a fair shout... but if he thinks players like Harrold are the answer, then i've certainly got my doubts.

I'd have thought that Harrold would have been Tilly's shout as he would have worked with him when he was with the Youth Team here.

I can see Kev Maher being manager here one day.

The way I understood it, Brush has been banging on about Harrold for the last few seasons and we've tried to get him in before...

I'd say Spinner maybe, spoke to him after the Luton game and asked whether he'd take it on one day. He said "possibly, we'll have to see." Has hsi badges and i'd go for him. But hopefullt tilly will be here till at least the end of his contract (unless of course something goes horribly wrong)

I think Stimmo would definitely be on the list of possibles if we were looking for a new manager, I've said so on here a few times before.

Good shout about Spinner too, hopefully his Mrs will get Australia out of her system and let him return one day to manage the mighty Blues!

If Tilly were to go elsewhere, we would be crazy to overlook the talents in our midst. Tactical nous par excellence plus a superb eye for a player. It just has to be Wiggy.

I'd be delighted to see Spinner come in as manager if Tilly ever moved on to bigger & better things...

Matt

Thats where I think spinner would be better with his premiership contacts from him playing at a higher level then Tilson, the only problem with spinner for me is that is he to likley to go off on one having a go at players or will it do the team some good having a 'hard case' incharge?

On what basis? :minger:

It sounds ideal in principle, ex-player from the local area etc - but how well do you know him personally, his attributes - coaching, tactics, player spotting, contacts book... all of these are critical to being successful in management. It takes a bit more than being born locally and being able to organise a defence well enough to work an offside trap mate...

I like the idea of him being our manager - but I dont see how there's any way any of us could have the foggiest idea whether he is suitable for the job or not.

Much less Maher. From what I've seen of him on the pitch - mouthy, negative and 100% uninspirational to his colleagues - he'd be no better than chipmunk.

:thump:

On what basis? :minger:
On the basis that:

* he is a proven winner as a player
* he is the living embodiment of making the very most of one's resources
* he is a clever and personable chap - so good with the media...
* ... and you get the impression he is no one's fool; he won't stand for being mucked about
* he is passionate about the Blue army, and as Wignall proved, you have to have passion in your eyes...

;)

Provided he had a decent coach alongside him, I see no reason why Spinner wouldn't be anything but a first rate candidate. So ner.

I'm still 100% behind Tilly, he had a very tough task last season with our bare squad. Should he move on to bigger things I'd think it best to see who's available at that time, I'd rather have an experienced manager come in than take a gamble on an ex-player.
