New Rumour on Sky

I think Darryls problem has always been his lack of height... and to be honest it is also why barrett and clarke aren't playing at a higher (no pun intended) level either. most of the CCC teams have tall players and with a relatively small squad it's always going to be a mismatch.

Add that to his inability to effectively command his area and that pretty much explains why his shot-stopping prowess has never seen him play at a higher level (except with us of course).

I have heard a rumour about you SBH ...

*South Bank Hank in McDonald's Takeover bid*:p

Although everytime you see me, I do appear to have a burger in my hand, there's nothing wrong with eating burgers:

a) On the train home from a heavy session
b) At football matches (actually, for health reasons there probably is!)

Now stop hi-jacking other people's threads Mr Cricko!

:)

So long as MacDonald knocks one in the onion bag against the O's on our opening day fixture, I'll be more than happy.

i think his lack of height is why he is not great at commanding his area.. but yeah good point

I think it is his poor decision-making which makes him so dire at commanding his area. He is indecisive and has poor judgement, so he plays it safe and stays rooted to his line.

The difference between a top class keeper like Royce, who made his mind up early and normally correctly, and Flahavan is immense.

as Darryl is one of Tilly's favourites I doubt he'll leave, the Club will probably just bow down to his wishes

What wishes are those? Spill the beans. As far as everyone else knows this is only a rumour. According to you not only is it true, but you know what the issue is.

don't know anything about this rumour, but what I do know is certain players have a 'hold' over the club and usually get what they ask for when they throw their toys out the pram

so all I'm saying is, IF Darryl threw a strop the Club wouldn't let him go cos he's one of the favourites

So which one are you, the one on the left or the one on the right?

It's true but I still think that Darryl, indecision and all, is still one of the best goalkeepers at this level. Keepers who are 'just' shot-stoppers seem to be much maligned on here but we saw last time we were in League One just how important it is to have a keeper who will get the back four out of jail a couple of times a game and Flavs' reflexes can certainly do that.

Can he play at a higher level? Probably not, but we're not at a higher level so right now I don't think it's a huge issue.

My mate's second cousin's uncle's brother passes by Roots Hall every other Saturday and HE said that he heard a very strong rumour that David Beckham was already sick and tired of life in LA and wanted to come back and play "honest football" in League One. He also heard that Kevin Maher had rather large ears but couldn't confirm ...

I bet after watching that shower play the other night Beckham would prefer to be playing in League 1.
