New place in town

The area has become a mecca for restaurants, including Bella Pasta, Nando's and La Tasca tapas bar in the old Yates's Wine Lodge.

How bloody depressing. Are there any non-chain places?

I read that this morning on the way in to work, seems like a perfect location. However not sure I will be allowed to take the family there for our Saturday lunch. Usually Nando's or La Tasca.

YB of course there is non chains but usually they do not exist in the High Street. So for a lunch bite these are ideal.

Erm, there's also Ask, Pizza Express and Mamma Almafi's (sp?).

Mama amalfi's is now Bella Pasta

Seems a sensible move to me, all the chains up by the cinema.

A bit like they were trying to do with the high Street (underpass) end of Southchurch Road a few years back , Frankie and Bennies , Pizza hut etc.

Little point opening a shop down there, it would be on its own, so give the punters a choice .

A million times better than pound shops.

I quite like the family friendly development theme at the top of the High Street and I think it has put the brakes on the decline of the town.
