A Bit of Fun New member of the board?

This on the same websuite today - posted after the Apprentice bloke rumour:

Southend United to trial SV Babelsberg (Regionalliga Nord, Germany)left back Gunther Arschloch. The highly thought of German defender (former Under 18 international) will arrive at Roots Hall for a 2 week trial next week.

Arschloch is German for well I think you can work it out...........

1. Who are the people who have time to make this stuff up?

2. I've had Gunther on Footy Manager. He's ****.

Great wind up. Alan Sugar WILL NOT get back into football as far as (his own) finances are concerned. Fact. The guy realises that there is easier money elsewhere and he doesn't need the hassle. I have enjoyed the speculation though but sadly more chance of Lord Lucan playing up front for us and Elvis in defence

Lord Lucan is negotiating a transfer from a club hidden away in South America and Elvis will play when he finishes his shift at the chip shop.

You don't need a rumours web-site when you hear it first on the Zone. ;)

And Shergar is in the burgers.

If it was true we'd have a director who'd talk all the time about "giving 200%" - you can't give 200% you knob, it's impossible - and with an inability to hold a mobile phone properly (none of them can on that program!)

Great how these rumours start though. I reckon if we arranged it via PM and then posted it on the forum we could get a real juicy but totally untrue rumour into the national press. It would be an interesting exercise ;)

Haha

O editor. Regarding the Southend left back post..
I'm afraid arschloch means arsehole in german.
So I think that might just be a lie, like me saying that Arsenal will sign señor puta from cf fejare.

George Soros is backing a plan , along with British Land PLC to take over Southend United FC , whilst moving the club to a new stadium complex and redevelop the existing site

That's a good one.

One of his talents is hedge fund management...

I wonder...

Surely not that old? Remember hearing this a couple of seasons ago. Soros is only worth 6 billion anyway. Pfff, we can do better.

When the Name Delancey was first mentioned , Jamie Ritblat was confused with the Ritblat who runs British Land , and George Soros was a big investor in Delancey Link to Article from 1998

I recall it being discussed on the old email list (now the yahoo list)

More rumours from the SZ faithful!!

Heard from a very reliable source that Ron Martin is going to quit Southend United at the end of the season.

This follows frustration with the proposed new stadium, the tax issue and also a fraud squad investigation into his business

Southend United:

Chairman would not allow the club to go into liquidation. The outstanding £200,000 is not for a debt owed to the HMRC but for 'penalty payments' due after being late in paying the outstanding 2.1 million last year. The courts will not allow a club to go into liquidation having just paid off the HMRC to the tune of over 2 million pounds!!

If as a last resort the court orders Ron to pay, he will pay (he won't be happy, but he will pay). Southend will not only survive the HMRC onslaught against us, but also the relegation battle we are currently fighting!!

Up the Shrimpers!

IF HMRC is successful in the case against Southend United regarding a disputed £200k tax settlement in the High Court next Wednesday, 10th March it will press for the immediate liquidation of the League One strugglers. HMRC has already labelled SUFC a "serial defaulter" and will press for closure to reclaim the monies owed (if indeed they are – that will be up to the judge).
This is Southend Uniteds most important fixture in its history, when victory isn't about 3 points, but about its very existence. The Chairman is playing a very dangerous game with the club and indeed his own financial future (as that hinges on the new stadium being built). Not only does he risk the clubs future, but he too will be faced with bankruptcy if the judge rules in the favour of HMRC. The 'word' is the case would appear to be 60:40 in favour of HMRC. Judges are also getting heartily sick of football clubs appearing before them having defaulted on HMRC payments and sooner rather than later will decree liquidation rather than administration.
