How far is Needham from Southend?

Not sure about from Southend, but going on rail prices it's just a bit further out of London than Torquay (£74.90 as opposed to £74). Hope this helps.

It's £33.60 return but you would be pushed to make it back unless you leave the match early as the last train home is at 21:49

Needham Market is nice little ground in good bit of the country.I visited it last season when they played Maldon and Tiptree.Their manager was very animated that day even though they won 5-0! Will probaly make the trip up their on Monday.

As well as being a Shrimper, I am also sports editor for the Bury Free Press (local paper that covers Needham as well as Bury Town) and will be tweeting from the match (follow @BishDerek)

Saw a lot of Needham last year. Very good R1N side - lost Danny Gay to AFC Sudbury and Craig Parker (41 goals) to Chelmsford, but have plenty of quality, including Sam Newson, who Sturrock watched during February.

Rhys Henry no longer plays for them either, didn't quite make it sadly.

Wouldn't be surprised if this game was set up to see how Newson would do against a higher grade of opponent.

Newson is a goalscorer. Works hard, pretty quick if not electrifying. Went throgh a tough spell after Sturrock watched him last season, but has bags of goals in him, and that was his first season at that level.

From what I've heard, there is no deal at the moment. If Newson gets a couple of Monday though, wouldn't be surprised to see that changed!
