New Club Anthem

Thread from another forum, for thiose who may not jump from one to another.

Hijack Land of Hope and Glory

1st rought Draft:

Land of Hope and Glory we will follow the Blues; we again will be mighty af-ter vi-c-tor-y.

Our piers Wider and longer, than any in-in the world; Shrimpers we are for-ever... and no-one out-sings us here...

When we score we we will allll sayyy... its just another.... blue day... ????

Very sorry I am not a song writer and this needs someone with those skills to take it to a higher level.

I like Bridge Over Trobled Water, It's a real anthem song.

Most inc myself cannot make it anywhere near the high notes of this classic.

Land of Hope & Glory has much fewer demands on one's vocal chords. Further it is an anthem which can really be belted out.

Forget the need of the acoustics of the North Bank, this would raise any roof and of such class we would be the envy of the whole football league and premiership. Prouder than ever to be a Shrimper?

Polictically correctors might object but distinguishing Britishness [Gracies inc] should not be objectionable to any denomination.

Effectively we could take back from the NF what is ours in the first place:

Your brain loves you !!

We already sing a version of Land of Hope & Glory don't we?...

We all follow the Southend, over land and sea....(and Col Ewe!)

We all follooooooow the Soooooouthend, on too viiiiiccctory...

Yes it is an adaptation so we should all know it by now:thump:

We just need to take the bitterness out of the words for a decent anthem of which we would all be rightfully, proud & to be attarcted to be sung in greater numbersan at present. We just need to be re-incarnated:confused:

wessex said about sham 69 top idea man could adapt to:
now the blues are united
we will never me divided

imo this would be a great song to sing IF we got the north bank as we would once again all be united

Agreed.....its pants.

BOTW is the only one for me

Please tell Kenneth how BOTW does it for you as it is a slow dirge that absolutely no-one would sing the lyrics from start to finish without falling asleep.
LOHAG is a rousing , emotion-stirring song that would get people going. I fail to understand how Simon and Carbuncle's song would inspire anything with anyone.

I feel a vote coming on

To be fair I feel a vote of all nominations is the only democratic way to decide life changing issues and and would further promote interest/consultation amongst as many of the natives as possible.

It is horses for courses Ken......i just can really see it working but you can not...... Plus you are tone deaf

:finger:

I have sat and closed my eyes with it playing and i can honestly see it working, when it is sung by just 2 septic’s it might not give the punch that thousands singing it would.

BOTW has very similar octaves as You will never walk alone....

But at the end of the day, we are all different and don’t always agree.

Apart from one thing i think that we mostly agree on, and i am only saying this because i never got a chance to comment on a particular thread as it was closed before i got back from abroad.

Southmister should not stop posting as he is a valued and very funny poster and a top top bloke.....MK should get a pat on the back for starting the thread. The Mods should grow some balls and ban the certain individual to protect the Zone, i have seen cases were chat forums are closed down for less.

Botw

A classic & timeless song but don't think anthem material.

Paul Simon reaches extremely high notes at climax !

Does nothing for me or my wife ??
