New boy

Delighted to have you on the board Shrimp Creek. I've never lived in Southend but have had a fascination with them as it's where my family originate from. One day, going back a few years i thought i'm going to go down there and watch them play. I came home that evening, about 11pm, slightly worse for wear with quite a few Southend shirts, They were all exactly the same. Since that day it's been mainly bad times but recently things have really perked and what a fantastic time to take interest in this club, my kids love it, and my wife has even enjoyed the odd trip to the hall, but before you come again Shrimp creek, get rid of the Chelsea shirt, and buy one of mine. Please.

Thank You for the warm welcome everyone :D

One aspect of supporting a premiership club was that i couldn't really afford to take my boys to matches and in the long term this win have a detrimental effect on their fan bases. thanks to southends cup policy ive taken both boys to the cup games with them both joining in with the singing in the west stand on tuesday night-priceless moment for a dad :D

Nice to know you've 'smelled the coffee', I am sure you speak for thousands who are finding the whole money thing off-putting.

Just one question - are you with or without paddle ?

Shrimper Creek, were you sitting in right next to the away team dugout on Tuesday, if so I was just behind you...welcome to the club!

Ive started watchching southend quite by acident after my son was chosen to be a ball boy at the spammers game pre season and i haven't missed a home game since.
Its been like a breath of fresh air for me and i can only discribe it like being transported back 20 years in time before all the premiership bollacks corrupted football.

Shrimp Creek

Welcome Shrimp Creek

Supporting a Prem side is like playing Football Manager/Championship Manager with an editor:guns:

I gotta add that the quality of Championship teams is very much the same as the old Football League and League 1- The old 2nd Division etc.

I also believe that the Premiership is just an arm chair supporters league too and the fact that attendances are a lot higher in the lower leagues than they used to be can only mean a lot of other people have gone back to grass roots!

Welcome aboard sir,

Be prepared to be extremely disappointed more often that not, but when we have something to cheer about, boy is it worth it.

First I'll lay my cards on the table and say that i'm a Chelsea supporter or should i say a disillutioned one and before anyone asks i'm not the nutter who was wearing a chelsea shirt at the game tonight :D

Ive read some of the negative posts that the team are getting at the moment and have to say that to me they are very good side and look a class above almost all the teams they play they just let themselfs down with stupid mistakes that if ironed out will make them a force to be reckoned with in league one.
btw, the liquidator before the start was a nice touch -just like being at the bridge :D
Shrimp Creek

**** off back to the Bridge. It's obviously your fault we're not winning. ;)

Welcome aboard sir,

BoyWonder2 that is exactly how I feel

I walk down Shakespeare Drive most Saturdays at 5.00 thinking why do I do it but by the time I get home I can't wait for the next game.

And the days I walk down Shakespeare after a win more than make up for it!!

It's a bit like an addiction I reckon. We moan about it all the time and wonder how we bother yet with eternal hope in our hearts we turn up every other Saturday with that deep-down hope that we'll win, however sh!t our team is at the time...

Finally someone that see's sence. Premiership is a waste of space its not real football. Its all about the lower leagues struggling to buy players and with hardly any money makes it interesting, although with the premiership's over inflated transfer fee's doesn't help us lower down with wages rising. Makes it impossible to sign half decent players on cheap wages. Oh well what can you do football is a business not a sport.

Glad to see that you have decided to support Southend and look forward to seeing more posts from you on here :D

Welcome!

Damn I thought we had signed someone else when I saw the title of this thread! :thump:

Welcome aboard Shrimp Creek, enjoy the ride!
