Nope, played them in the Cup 1971/2 .....beat them 1-0 (I was there), only to slip to defeat in the next round at Bournemouth 2-0. Think it was the time they the Cherries had a goal scoring machine, who went on to greater things. His name escapes me.Aston villa?

Yep, it was Accrington and Arsenal a few seasons back which is partly why Tilly kept asking for Arsenal in cup games, and as we've played the Stanley they've been replaced by AFC Wimbledon.
We actually played the old version of Accrington Stanley before they went tits up in 1962, and as such we've played Wimbledon before, so it's only Arsenal we are yet to play in a competitive game.
I think that an awful lot of AFC Wimbledon fans will not agree there, wouldn't think it good for the health to suggest that MK Dons are the same as AFC Wimbledon anytime you're in South West London; very sore point in that neck of the woods.....
AFC Wimbledon are a "new club" - Like it or not MK Dons are the same club as the old Wimbledon FC. AFC were created as a completely different entity.
So AFC Wimbledon and Arsenal only to play

As ethically wrong as the whole Wimbledon saga was, you're spot on. Sadly.
I still can't believe that was allowed to happen.
When is a 'new club' a new club? Teams have folded or gone out of the league & come back again as 'new clubs' for example Aldershot & Accrington.
AFC Wimbledon I believe have now taken all the history & records of the old Wimbledon FC, so in that respect we have played them before. It's a bit of a hard one to work out, but I would class them as a team we have played before , but I can also see why some would say we have never played them!
Indeed - AFCWimbledon are the only "AFC" that I have sympathy with. FC United (and Enfield Town for any Non League Buffs) are right up there with Crawley in the biggest tuncs in Football.
I would say AFC Wimbledon were a new club purely because the existing club (or franchise or whatever you wish to call it) was still in operation when they were formed. The "re-formings of teams like Accrington, Aldershot, Telford, Hornchurch etc) were really only new clubs in legal terms -
edit - to the best of my knowledge, I have done no research!
Again each one is slightly different. Accrington folded in 1966 the new club did not play its first match untill 1970 it would appear that they were a totally new club not conected with the old club.
If you look at AFC Wimbledon official site you will see they won the FA Cup in 1987/8 and that they also joined the football league in 1977-8 which is when we first played them in a league match.
I wonder if the AFC Wimbledon fans class themselves as a fan of the 'old' Wimbledon, probably from what I can make out.
