Maybe that just shows how much he wants to play for us....?[b said:Quote[/b] (Whatever @ Jan. 05 2006,06:29)]After he missed an open goal from 4 yards when we played Gills in October, he can stay there....
I accept that this is a rumour that could have substance, but is Harris any better than what we have?[b said:Quote[/b] (Shrimpersarmy @ Jan. 05 2006,14:42)]Harsh of you lot to slate the guy who posted this, IMO this is the one rumour that could actually happen. Harris is a local lad who has always had SUFC close to his heart. He has not had the best time at Gillingham and might be looking to move away to kick start his career, and where better to do that than your hometown club? I can't believe half of you genuinely believe Chris Powell is coming back (he is playing regular games in the Prem for fecks sake) but then slate off a rumour like this which is far more realistic and does actually add up.
I'm not saying i want him to play for us, i was just pointing out that this rumour could have some truth in it if Tilly wants him.[b said:Quote[/b] (canveyshrimper @ Jan. 05 2006,14:55)]I accept that this is a rumour that could have substance, but is Harris any better than what we have?
The answer I fear is no, Harris has not been the same player since his illness problems, and though his record at Millwall was quite good he was by no means prolific, as his subsequent poor record at Forest & Gillingham show.
I would also agree that there is no chance of Chris Powell making a comeback at Roots Hall, as stated he has been pretty much a regular at Charlton this season so why should he move when he is in the first team. Another downside is wages with Powell, i would venture to suggest he will be on about 10k a week at Charlton so why drop two divisions for less than half the salary?
think i'd prefer Harris to Goater tbh.[b said:Quote[/b] (Shrimpersarmy @ Jan. 05 2006,15:02)]I'm not saying i want him to play for us, i was just pointing out that this rumour could have some truth in it if Tilly wants him.[b said:Quote[/b] (canveyshrimper @ Jan. 05 2006,14:55)]I accept that this is a rumour that could have substance, but is Harris any better than what we have?

I agree with you, Harris is not the player he was, he is injury prone, has no pace and as others have stated, he has missed some absolute sitters this season. It would be a backward step to sign him but if he did come to Southend i would welcome him because i trust Tilsons judgement.
Having no pace never did the likes of Teddy Sheringham any harm, as he had the brain to go with it.[b said:Quote[/b] (Shrimpersarmy @ Jan.

To be fair i am being a bit pre judgemental of Harris, i just feel he doesn't really fit Tilly's requirements of 'we won't sign anyone unless they are better than what we already have'.[b said:Quote[/b] (canveyshrimper @ Jan. 05 2006,15:11)]Having no pace never did the likes of Teddy Sheringham any harm, as he had the brain to go with it.
That sounds like Graeme Jones.[b said:Quote[/b] (Shrimpersarmy @ Jan. 05 2006,14:02)]is not the player he was, he is injury prone, has no pace and as others have stated, he has missed some absolute sitters this season.
