My fight against the flab

fbm

Blue tinted optimist⭐🦐
In my signature there is a link to a journal about a drastic diet I have embarked on since the end of May. I have lost over 3 stone now and will be concluding the diet fairly soon.

Smudger made a reference to it on the Shrimpers boards somewhere but rather than get all off topic, if anyone is interested just click on the link in my signature to view the journal and see what I have gone through. There are pictures in the journal as well so if anyone is ever curious as to what I look like so they can abuse me in the RBS family stand next season, there you go!

nice one Mark

just so long as it doesn't affect your ability to write match reports

fbm - many congrats! I didn't realise. Blimey what with you on Lighterlife, Cockles doing "Britain's Biggest Loser" - and shedding some 6 stone, I believe, an awesome effort - and me doing my cycling and keeping up a steady if unspectacular loss rate of 1-2lbs a week (which I know is working - I'm having to buy new suits, because my current ones are swamping me)... well, it's not just the players who will be fitter and leaner for the new season!

Keep up the great work, and I'll read the blog when I'm a bit less chocca in the office!

Trust me , I know.
Seconded.  I did Atkins, lost 4 stone, and then put four-and-a-half back on...

However, I can't recommend cycling enough. That, plus a salad at lunch, and I'm slowly losing weight without really trying. It's a winner...

i lost 7 stone on slimmers world, and then injured ankle training for the great south run and pile it plus more back on

need to back on it.

Had a read through and hats off to you Mark, an impressive effort. Even more surprised when I noticed:

sounded just like someone I know. Sure enough spoke to Tony tonight and he mentioned your name. What a small world we live in!

I would at this time like to announce that as from Sunday the 13th of August I will be on a Quest to lose 8 Stone! those of you that know me will know that I need to do this before my health gets any worse

Nice one Mark, keep going mate.

I saw on your blog that you're worried about beginning to eat again while on holiday - I would suggest a course of pro-biotics. Not the crap youghurt drinks that don't work, buy them in pill form from health food shops, they're normally found in the fridge (and labelled Acidophilus.) Get the good ones as you get what you pay for in that game, they should be about £13. This should help fight off any nasties that your stomach could be unprepared for....

Blimey, is this the fattest messageboard in history or something?

ps. For the record, I've lost a stone in the last month or so by cutting out most of the booze and walking to the station rather than catching the bus (plus a bit of exercise bike when I can be arsed). Only 2 1/2 stone to go, and I'll be normal shaped again

If anyone wants to lose some weight in one day, I'd recommend walking from Southbourne Grove to the Leigh Barclays and back. I almost disappeared. I've never done any diets myself but generally try and be sensible about how much I eat of stuff rather than what I eat. I'm a firm believer that a consistent and fairly intensive exercise regime should be enough to counter any weight gains. I try and go jogging three times a week from Chalkwell to Westcliff Casino and back as a minimum and this seems to help. It was further than my body wanted to run at first but it's interesting how your resolve grows the more you exercise.

My housemates in Portsmouth used to do all sorts of diets every other month. I think the Atkins one is probably the worst of the lot as almsot everyone I know puts the weight back on at soem point after finishing it. I'm generally sceptical about short-term weight loss programmes and reckon that a longer term adjustment to lifestyle is better but if it's working for people, fair play.

One of the lads I lived with in Canada cut carbs straight out of his diet (virtually) and it was breathtaking how much weight he lost but apparently he'd lost that much before and put it all back on. He rather disproved my exercise theory mentioning how he used to go to the gym a lot whilst he was heavier. Knowing how lazy he was with most stuff, I reckon I'll stick with my belief.

Still, really well done Mark. Keep up the diary too. When you have to chart things like this in that way then it's always easier to stick to.

Well played, Scott. And good luck.

I've lost more than half a stone by cutting out snacks, eating a decent breakfast, walking from London Bridge to Brick Lane every day for work (and back), and playing 5-a-side every week.

Makes my Southbourne Grove to Leigh Barclays seem pretty rubbish! I walked from Tower Hill to HMS Belfast for my interview the other week and I was pretty much sweated out by the time I got there. Then again, when it's between that and the underground...

That's why cycling rocks... cycle hard for 25 minutes, have a shower when you get in.

Sorted.
