I heard Status Quo and Thin lizzy pay at my school, Mayflower comprehensive in Billericay Also playing at another concert we’re the Nashville Teens.

The Archer hall in Billericay that was alongside Billericay Town FC old ground also had some big names playing there. I remember Elkie Brooks but lot more heavy metal bands played there.

For lighter entertainment I saw Rod Stewart play at the Kursal.

Before they became massive Take That played at Westleigh Junior School , one of the teachers Miss Monk won a compition for them to play there Robbie Williams and all .

Shades, possibly.
The "Shades" was on the seafront almost opposite where Ocean Beach is now which use to be a big glass shelter back in the 60's. Flats now stand where the Shades use to be and they have blue railings on each apartment. The Flats replaced a Hotel named The Moravia Hotel which was owned by a Czech Family that I knew, also on that corner of the road was an underground Coffee Bar where all the Rockers use to hang out while the Shades was always for the Mods with their Scooters.

Who remembers the club along from the Cliffs Pavillion , I believe the Animals played there back in the day as well as others .
Simon, was it called the Studio??(will need to be confirmed by someone, it's a long time ago)I do remember going in there back in about 1966ish and seeing members of the Paramount's who later became Procol Harum in there, one being Robin Trower who was like me living in Wakering back in the day when he went to high school. Apparently the Shades was run by his family back in the 1960's.

Dave wasnt The Shades along Southend seafront . I remember someone telling me he saw The Animals play just along from the Cliffs Pavilion . it had to be before 1965 because that was the year Alan Price left to go solo .

There was a club past the gas works on the left by a really weird small Red Chinese restaurant. I think it was called the coc door or something similar, it was in a small arcade type of structure. First time ever going there with my parents seeing a worm in a bottle of Tequila.

Yes Dave, it was originally called the Studio Club, but was renamed the Galleon & Player around 1965. I was at SHSB with Robin Trower and Dave Copping (The Paramounts).
