Question Move Gus to play a number 9!

Move Gus to play anywhere in a moving forward line, play George Wind Right wing back.
George is a very good player and should be in the team to progress more.
A roaming GSM,could be interesting!

I think if Gus is scoring goals where he is with his boots on the wrong feet we should stick with it. Shame for George not to get some time but there you go.

GSM is not a player who’ll create and score his own goals. His best attribute is being able to ghost into dangerous areas unnoticed.

Playing him in a more prominent role will put a spotlight on him & reduce his effectiveness.

Without wanting to start the discussion about formations again, I'd say Gus already does play in a 'moving forward line'.

The graphic put up here recently about average positions vs Rochdale (I think) proves as much.

George Wind is obviously a good player and has done well when called upon but we shouldn't be shifting anything around to accommodate him in my opinion.

Won't work. He isn't strong enough to hold the ball up and would get pushed off the ball. He is effective where he is because he is able to come in late and ghost into the box when the defence is occupied

He knows where the goal is, and poor in defence. Of course he should be tried up there, GW is a very good player and should not be wasted on the bench... would Gus have made more of Walkers chances....of course is my opinion. You never know till you try it.

Again everyone knows what will happen without trying it. I wonder where we would be if nothing was ever tried...
Wind may have stopped a few goals recently if he would have been there.
For me the quality of Wind warrants a different approach, if we never had him I don't think anyone would change Gus at all.

What if he was a 25+ goalscorer by playing higher up, and not having to worry about getting back to defend. Would double his transfer fee, as still can't believe he's still with us.

Perhaps the only way we might see Gus bang upfront is when we absolutely need to score, like to get in the playoffs or during the knockout.
Actually, wasnt there a game early on when Gus was told to stay "up there" ???

That's not logic, why would you do that. Although he has gone in goal for us. Chris Sutton started life as a defender, but was switched upfront, and became a very successful striker.
Our coaching team, aren't for changing much, most of the substitutions are like for like. This could be our plan B.
I never understand why people never try things, my 3rd invention is going into retail this year, they only came about because I tried something different, its just a mindset.
If it doesn't work, nothing lost, but you never know till you try!

You don’t just move someone out of a position that has enabled them to score 13 goals for the sake of trying something different.

It's a tough one because I think he's absolutely dreadful at everything except scoring goals.

Can't pass, can't cross, no vision, poor temperament, fades badly towards the end of games - and yet he's scored 13 goals this season - what to do!
