About 50% of the population under the age of 23 speak with it - all because of bloody Neighbours.

You're right, and and it's made me think - kids today seem to take more from pop culture than from what they're taught at school. "Oh my God!", "So", "Whatever", the Oz inflection - all have a place in modern parlance because of the influence of television. Can't just blame da kids though - I've noticed a depressing amount of grown women adopting "Sex & the City" speak.

That has definitely happened. There's even a few linguistics papers on this event
Australian inflection.
aka the Australian final interrogative, I believe...?!

Obviously, I'm very grateful to yourself for mentioning that - do you know what I mean - since you had reminded myself that, basically - although I could of mentioned it - it had, like,  so  slipped my mind innit.

Yea, but I am bovverred ? (being a late convert to Ms Tate (or is it Tait?) I still find that very funny).

Tate is correct spelling. Very funny lady. Did she first do the saying I cant stand?!!!!!!!! "What are you like?" "What am I like?"

I am guilty of using the word "like" about 3 times in every sentence i say

Pet hates:

"oh my god"
"whatever" (american accent)
"Computer says no"
"Am i bothered?"

That saying really annoys me. Can't believe people find it amusing.

I can't stand "Innit" or when people reply to a question by saying "Is it?".

At the moment I'm using the phrase 'Awesome' or 'thats f%&king awesome' depending on who is about. If something goes wrong for someone i do say " how do you feel?broke?" that really annoys people.

Alexis

Any catchphrase that people shamelessly copy from comedies (and i use the word comedy very loosely here) like Little Britain and Catherine Tate really pi$$ me off...

Listen, you're not funny, so stop using other peoples catchphrases pretending to be funny, trying to distract people from the fact your actually very boring.

Other irritations: 9-16 year old white kids saying Bruv, Gangsta, Innit, Word, Dope, Respect, Ting, Bear, Mission, Safe or any other Jamaican-Born phrase that the Chav culture has adopted.

No one can speak proper no more, innit?

I get fed up with double negatives.

And cliches, especially 'at the end of the day'.

At the end of the day what? The sun sets? Night falls?

So in theory I should hate Tilly, as he uses it incessantly.

Other pet hates, 'to be honest' - why, do you normally lie to me?

'To be fair'...
