Dont understand that decision. Even Sawyer out of position on the right is surely a better option? What does Soares offer over Sawyer? I'm struggling. Anyway, let's back the lad and see what he can magic up...
Sawyer tries far too many penetrative passes and, hence, gives the ball away far too often. The goal we conceded against Northampton was a direct result of this. Soares may offer better ball retention than Sawyer, and he's a more natural right-sided midfielder if we are indeed going 4-4-2. It seems to me that people are happy for Sturrock to play square pegs in circle holes when it's a crowd favourite, but the moment he attempts this with another player he's lambasted for it.
Sawyer gave the ball away to their player just inside our half and their full back ran past 3 players who didn't try to stop him before hitting a weak shot the keeper didn't try too hard to stop. Initial mistake by Sawyer but to say it was a direct result is a bit harsh.
which went like a bullet in to the bottom corner actually. Unstoppable. I do agree with some posters, I like Lee and he will be a better player under Sturrock but his weakness is giving the ball away in dangerous positions and his defensive duties. This is a tough game so if we lose let's not say it's because Sawyer wasn't playing.Sawyer gave the ball away to their player just inside our half and their full back ran past 3 players who didn't try to stop him before hitting a weak shot the keeper didn't try too hard to stop. He didn't take it past anyone. Our centre backs backed off and invited the shot, which went into the bottom corner, out of the keeper's reach.

Sounds like we can't get much of the ball and when we do some poor passes/touches let us down.
