Not convinced by Martin whatsoever.

However not judging anyone until we have a settled midfield.

I think what frustrates me when I see him is that he has the potential to be a real attacking threat , but never seems to deliver.
I guess the same can be said about most 'wingers / wide midfield players' the world over.
I also think he plays with the demeanour that Sturrock doesn't really rate him as one of his first choice starting eleven and is almost resigned to the fact that he will be taken off if we need to change it around a bit.

Thinking about it, this probably hits the nail on the head. Rightly or wrongly, there are always players who will be "sacrificed" first if the team needs changing around. Paul Merson's autobiography talks about this a lot, as under George Graham, he was the first to get subbed.

I'm not sure if that's true or not, but if it is, it's up to Martin to change Sturrock's opinion. If he's playing, then he has a better opportunity than those on the bench.

Difference was Merson didn't mind as it meant he got to the bar earlier.........................
