Mildenhall

alginon1

First XI
Do you have a POV on Mildy – Personally I think his stop stopping ability is OK, however, his distribution and organisation of the defence is poor. I’m just not convinced he is good enough
The majority of his mark this week was based on his reaction to our second goal.
I cannot deny he is committed to the club.
However, If you count the amount of times his drop and dead ball kicks go to the opposition it runs well into double figures! (Not just this Saturday)
When we were 2-1 up on Saturday we had a free kick and he just lumped the ball forward to nobody which eventually led to the second goal.
I would prefer that when we are winning the ball goes to feet and not in the air.
Having said this the majority of the Football was played by us and very encouraging for the rest of the season.

The only player we have that is close to a 'target man' is Revell. Can we really be expecting our tiny players to be winning every header. The other alternative is to pass our way out and, firstly, we do not have defenders who are brilliant passers, and secondly, that is how we scored our 2nd goal, Huddersfield tried to play their way out of trouble and got punished. I would prefer that we lose the ball in the final third of the pitch than around our penalty box.

Are you joking? It's not just his job to organise the defence, that is Adam Barretts job but Mildy never shuts up when he's in goal and does as much as he can.

There aren't many keepers who make every kick perfect and straight onto the head of their team mate. What did you want him to do? Play it short so though we were still in our own half under pressure? I'm sure there have been plenty of occasions where he has "just lumped the ball forward to nobody" and something has come out of it. The second goal I would say was down to the referee for that awful decision he made when we were attacking and James Walker and a Huddersfield player just bumped into each other, no one on either side appealed for anything, it was just one of those moments were it's nobody's fault and the ref gave Huddersfield the free kick while we were on the attack. From there they launched the attack and scored. So Mildy's kick actually put us on the attack before the referee put us on the defence.

All i will say to that is, you trying kicking it 70 yards and landing it on the exact spot you aim it! Even the best passer in the world couldn't do that.

Well, Federici could but he was just insane.

Mildy is a good solid keeper for this level, I'm very happy with him between the sticks.

Jesus, I thought Mildenhall had won round the vast majority of fans after his end of season form.

Mildenhall is a very good League One goalkeeper, and I don't think anyone on here even mentioned about bringing in a goalkeeper during the summer, that shows his more than good enough.

I also saw quite clearly on Saturday Barney signal to him he wanted a long, quick ball out on to the left wing to run onto and Mildy delivered a pinpoint accurate one. Get off his back! He's fine, just needs to grow a bit of understanding with the defence and everything will be hunky dory.

Surprise surprise someone gives there opinion that goes against the majority and the usual condecending bollocks occur

Alginon - I was very sceptical about Mildy when he first started here. In fact i thought he was terrible. He probably was...
But i think he's come a long way since then and seems a lot better.

Not so much POV as POY in my books.

There was me thinking that the idea of a message board is for posters to air their views accordingly. If everyone agreed with each other then this and any similar message board would become sterile and they just wouldn't work.

Mayebe some people are a bit defensive about Mildenhall because when he first signed a certain section of 'fans' were on his back even in pre-season friendlies simply because he wasn't Darryl Flahaven.
I am not accusing you of being one of them, just making the point that we seem to have a section of our 'support' who are total scumbags and seem to go out of their way to undermine certain players and even the team as a whole.

Fair point and taking that a step further and a little off topic, from what has been stated on here there has been abuse heaped upon Heath (in particular) and White for the heinous crime of being on loan from Colchester.

Was quite sickened when I heard that Harry, they're players wearing the blue of Southend, and playing for our club, therefore we should support them. Mildy's done great to overcome the hostility from early on last season, give him a settled defence that actually does their job and he'll be fine.
