Wow... just a few days to go and we launch our campaign in a new division. Seems with all the transfer talk, that Saturday (yes, THIS Saturday) match has been forgotten?!

Soooo.... Team for Saturday? Thoughts? Feelings?

Personally, I think Tilly has a (pleasant) nightmare with the midfield now. The 4 main stays from last year, plus Gower, Cole, Guttridge and Smith - with the latter 2 being particularly impressive pre-season. How on earth do you pick 4?

I would start like this for Sat:

1. Flavs
2. Jupp
3. Prior
4. Barret
5. Wilson
6. Gower (LW)
7. Bentley
8. Maher
9. Guttridge (RW)
10 Freddy
11. Gray

SUBS: Bart, Hunt, Cole, Smith, Lawson

Hard choice!

Not too sure about Port Vale, but I do think that form and confidence is with us, so I expect a 2-1 win.

Wouldn't really argue with that formation, if Gutts doesn't start itr will be as travesty as he has been arguably our best player in pre-season. I'd like to see Tilly give Cole a start as Gower hasn't shown much in pre-season

I think it is going to be a tough test to open the campaign but if we go out playing confident attacking, attractive football I think we can go away with three points and a 2-0 victory!!! (If the goat was playing I would lean towards 4, feed the Goat and he will score)

True, just not sure about chucking Cole into the 'unknown' and maybe go with some experience for the 1st game.

Great test for the start - looking forward to Bradford and Walsall too!!

I think that's the most likely line-up, but with jupp playing instead of hunt

My team would be:

Griemink
Hunt Prior Barrett Wilson
Pettefer Bentley Maher Cole
Eastwood Gray

Subs Jupp, Guttridge, Smith, Gower, Lawson

Cole is chosen over Gower on the presumption that he is the least unfit of the pair. Whoever starts will probably get subbed after 60-70 min.

Hunt over Jupp is a tough call. Jupp has the better form (end of last season and pre-season), but IMHO Hunt has the class, covers the centre backs better and links well with Petts.

Tilly will go with Jupp and Flahavan. His bench will be more conservative and will include a keeper and probably 2 defenders.

I agree with previous posters, Cole won't start. And i'd be very surprised if Petts didn't start (although i wish he was on the bench, he was Mr Negative, as usual, against Grays on sat).

Jupp deserves a crack after his fantastic end of season form!

Oh and talking of Saturdays game,
I finally received my season ticket....s in the post..... guess what..... one missing..... for saturdays game!

Mr Postman needs to get the replacement to me pronto!

Excellent choice bro. I agree 100%. Gutts and Cole to start - both have been excellent pre season.

Petterfer will probably not start. Pettefer might though.

And where does this idea that League One is oasis of smooth, flowing football come from? They don't all play like Brazil you know...
