I saw him do a Stand up set - admittedly at Lee Hurst's club in Bethnal, which is probably not exactly his kind of crowd - and he crashed and burned in a big way. He was about as funny as a trip to the dentist's to be honest.[b said:Quote[/b] (EastStandBlue @ Feb. 02 2006,16:11)]Jimmy Carr can be funny, but coming across as the most pompous, conceited tw&t on television only makes me think he deserves a good kicking.
Now I'm beginning to understand the terrible jokes[b said:Quote[/b] (* ORM * @ Feb. 02 2006,19:28)]Ant & Dec not funny ? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !
I think these are two top FAMILY entertainers. A lot of it may well be scripted but Angus Deaton is a perfect example of autocue counting for nothing.
There again I'm a big fan of George & Mildred, Bless This House and The Good Life. I do draw the line at Terry and June !
Little Britain still baffles me, as did the Office whereas the Fast Show and TittyBangBang were/are unmissable. I didn't like Phoenix Nights but Max and Paddy was superb.
Woah!![b said:Quote[/b] (perth shrimper @ Feb. 02 2006,08:18)][Barrymore's] a 'funnyman' that should have disappeared along with Tarby, Forsyth, Les Dennis and Noel Edmonds about 10 yrs ago.
Indeed, not only harsh but a bit of a poor effort as well.[b said:Quote[/b] (Steve_Clubshop @ Feb. 02 2006,20:12)]Last thing i heard about Barrymore was BBC was signing him up to do a new sitcom, Only Pools and Corpses, and will be taking a similar role to Delboy- that was harsh
Monkhouse was different level again.. Better than Brucie..[b said:Quote[/b] (Sebastian Weetabix @ Feb. 02 2006,21:02)]Quite liked Bob Monkhouse myself. Very quick witted and kept it clean. Bruce Forsyth hasn't changed in donkeys years. My dad went see him at the London Palladium iin the late fifties and he was meant to have been brillient then. Dated I agree but do you really want smut on a early saturday night on the telly?
My favourite was:[b said:Quote[/b] (canveyshrimper @ Feb. 03 2006,08:53)]Bob Monkhouse along with Dave Allen was one of the sharpest and aware stand up comics ever. The classic Monkhouse joke being.
"When I told them that I wanted to be a comedian they laughed, well they're not laughing now"
