Michael Barrymore

tw&t is my opinion.

A narcissistic manipulative man who is well past any sell by date.
Not even funny anyway, saying 'alwight', pulling funny faces and walking stupidly can be seen at any Butlins holiday camp and is hardly funny.
People will say 'tortured genius'....eh......what genius?

He's a 'funnyman' that should have disappeared along with Tarby, Forsyth, Les Dennis and Noel Edmonds about 10 yrs ago.

Agree with that, I must say I never saw the joke with Barrymore with his poor mans John Cleese silly walk. Along with Cannon & Ball he was as funny as toothache.

Will take slight issue with you over Bruce Forsyth, although i am not a fan, his versatility as an entertainer & pure longevity keep him at the top when most people have retired (or died).

I don't like him either - there's something about him that I don't trust and all his jokes are the same (and boring).

Bruce Forsyth however, that's a different story - he doesn't deserve to be classed in the same category as Barrymore.

Edmonds is back,Edmonds is back,
Edmonds is back,Edmonds is back,
The box game thing.

Grrrrrrrrr,

A massive fan of Brucey here too. Having met Brucey recently with his absolutely GORGEOUS wife I can confirm that neither of them are conceited and both took time to speak to everybody that pestered them when they were trying to enjoy themselves at a charity dinner. His longevity is a testament to his versatility and capability and long may it continue.

Barrymore was a one trick pony, funny for a year and started to believe in all the publicity hype around him. I cannot believe people want to give him airspace. The bloke is finished, so why do people enjoy watching him destroy himself publicly ?

Brucie is in the different league to that lot..
in fact they are all in a different league to Barrymore as none of them appear to have killed a young man in a drug fueled 'ahem' session, then lobbed his body in the pool and hid.. Allegedly of course

Agree with everything said about Brucey, and more. Brucey is a light-entertainment legend - someone with warmth, charm, a superb dancer, a singer and an all round top bloke.

Edmonds is an interesting character... he's a real survivor, there's no question of that.

Barrymore makes my skin crawl.

Matt

Barrymore's a giant **** and basically, just not a very nice bloke. A chancer who somehow made it to the top of the light entertainment ladder in the 1980s. Well past his sell-by date now and about as deserving of a slot on prime time TV as capital punishment (unless it was his own hanging).

Barrymore is a poor man's Les Dennis. Not funny at all. ORM is funnier!

However agree with Brucie. Top legend.

And Noel as well. Used to love the house party back when I was younger. And his new gameshow on Channel 4 is good. Always liked Noel, apart from inventing Mr Blooby, one bad point about him.

Edmonds is a class performer on light television.. Bit of a victim of his own sucsess really. Good to see him back.

never really liked barrymore to be honest.

didn't see all this bruce forsyth support coming. The blokes embarrassing to watch on tv now. He may well have been one of the greats 20 years ago (maybe even 50 years ago) but seeing him recently trying to crack jokes on that dancing programme was just painful.

ps i wasn't watching the dancing but my wife & daughter were

But that's part of Brucie's appeal. Personally I'd have an hour of Brucie singing, dancing and entertaining on prime time TV every Saturday or Sunday night against all the other crap that is on the box.

Brucie makes my kids laugh, Brian Conley makes my kids laugh. Good clean family fun without the need to resort to smut.

Exactly. And what are the modern alternatives to Brucey... Jimmy Carr?! Excuse me whilst I head to the corner of the sofa and weep quietly with despair...

I think TV has moved on from that kind of presenter.

If you look at most of the light entertainment shows these days they are mostly hosted by younger and trendy presenters like Ant&Dec, Vernon Kay, Cat Deeley, Kate Thornton et al.

Jimmy Carr can be funny, but coming across as the most pompous, conceited tw&t on television only makes me think he deserves a good kicking.
I don't think actors who are comedians and presenters work well, people like Vernon Kaye, Jonathan Ross and Ant/Dec aren't funny, but they feed off there guests. The Jonathan Ross show is only funny when he has a comedian on there, although his love affair with Ricky Gervais is growing thin.
May have worked in the 80's, but TV thrives on originality...
