Memory Test

David Crown scored 2 in my first ever game - a 2-1 win over Lincoln in the Sherpa Vans Trophy, 1988.

Indeed Roy did put us ahead with a 1st minute penalty.. we started signing "Southend are back, Southend are back" as this was a week after losing 8-1 at Gills... mmm, took another 4 defeats after this to see the back of Bate.. and not a minute too soon !!!

For the record Steve Goodwin vs Stockport on Aug 26 1977.. won 1-0

Robin's site is all you need for stuff like this...

Hmmmmm, Im sure it was mike marsh in a 1-1 draw with norwich in the 96/97 season, they got a last min penalty and I was sitting in the south upper stand. Couldnt really see the goal at all as it was up the other end of the pitch. Been my love ever since, my second game was the following season in a thrilling 5-3 win over bournemouth, lets hope for the same scoreline this weekend!

Regis Coulbault screamer after a couple of minutes in a 1-1 draw with Oldham back in 1997/98. Think Stuart Barlow may have equalised for them.

My memory is a bit sketchy but my first ever Southend game was a 3-1 victory over Gillingham in the 83/84 season (I think). The first goal I remember as a cracking volley but I'm not entirely sure of the scorer. I think it was Steve Phillips but it may have been Greg Shepherd or Trevor Whymark.

I remember sweet FA about my first game which was against Workington on 3rd September 1976 but I do know that Alan Little scored the opener with Paul Denny also netting for a 2-0 win over the Cumbrian side in the season they finished bottom of the Fourth Division for the second season in a row and subsequently lost their Football League status; they were replaced by Southern League Champions Wimbledon FC, who I think fared quite well over the next two decades in the League ...

3rd February 1978, Peter Abbott Vs Scunthorpe at Roots Hall. Spookily enough he scored the second goal i ever saw at Roots Hall, might be something to do with the fact he scored twice on that fateful night
