Matt Paterson

He started and was sent off against Manchester United last season. He's a tall striker, so a new, younger and possibly improved Revell/Harrold?

We're also sniffing around a big lump of a centre half in League Two I'm led to believe.

Blimey, perhaps JCR did go for a decent amount after all.

Shrimpers24 are saying it's Janos Kovacs who's just been released by Lincoln. A 6ft 4 Hungarian CB born in Budapest - sound familiar?
There may be nothing in either of these stories but at least we've been linked with some players at last!!

Oh, well, as it's now seemingly public - yes. :D

He hasn't actually been released, just placed on the transfer list. He's the beast of a centre back we'd need, but it'd be a slight risk in my opinion. Hey ho, he'd be cheap.

general reviews from lincoln fans about kovac is that he is passionate, puts in the effort, but isnt overly skillful or talented...reminds me of a certain culinary genius who recently left...

here's a review by one lincoln fan
"kovacs was passionate but passionate does not make you a good league two defender. a player with limited ability and serious flaws, kovacs was bullied by strong but immobile players and beaten by pace all too frequently."

on a more positive note, someone else says
"If other players had given as much commitment as Janos has during his time at the club then I do not think we would be in the position we are in now. Good luck Janos wherever you go and thanks for your effort."

the league two version of peter clarke by the sound of it, committed but not very good

I have seen Kavacs in action on a couple of occasions. The first being back in our promotion season from League one in Feb 06 when Freddy grabbed his hatrick at Chesterfield. Janos had a great game up until when he was sent off very harshly for a so called delibertate handball with Chesterfield leading 1-0. The ball was blasted at him from a couple of yards and he left the field in tears! Freddy converted the spot kick and the fun and games commenced with us eventually winning a wonderful match 4-3.

The second occasion was March 09 for Lincoln Vs Bury and to be honest I can kind of see what the Lincoln fan above means in terms of limited ability. This time he did manage the full 90 mins, but his positional sense was very poor, he lacked mobilty, and on the turn he looked very slow and cumbersome.

Well, this is the profile on Patterson from the Saints website:

I like the sound of a natural goalscorer. Possibly a target man, at 6ft 2", with the ability to finish.

And this is Kavcas from the Lincoln City site:

http://www.redimps.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10440~33977,00.html

Picked up the "Home player of the season" award for them last season, and would add a physical presence at the back that we have been missing since M'Voto has been injured.

I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but if we are in for the likes of Kovacs then our club is far deeper in the **** than anyone could imagine
