Match day preparation ...

Rayleigh boy

Director⭐
first thought this morning, remember to put the tickets in your pocket and
will check them about 20 times during the day -

cos of weather conditions put on extra thick socks -

double up with England shirt and top -

will have late lunch and make sure its a big bowl of pasta -

clock watch at work all day (between checking the zone and os)

charge out of the door at 5.25 heading for l'pool st -

just wondered how the day is for other supporters -

Spend most of the day looking at SZ.com and having a good bit of office banter with the Hoops fans at work.

Edit the news highlight on ladbrokes.com so it is as Southend-biased as possible

Leave work about half five

Get home and then get changed in to something neutral

Get on the 427 bus down to Hayes to watch it in Flynn's on the Uxbridge Road

Whatever the result, get smashed

Roll in drunk at about midnight, much to the delight of the housemate.

finish work at 4.. nip home to pick up stuff to go up to the fines court and pay a driving fine.... grrr, then nip back home and get sorted ,probably wearing ski jacket tonight cos it will be freezing! then jump on the bus up to southend at about 6 to meet my qpr mates who are heading down. a couple of pints, probably in yates before heading down to the game where i'll meet my parents! sorted!

Usually I'm cursing Friday night football, but with my girlfriend wanting me to go to a wedding with her tomorrow, this particular Friday fixture has made life a lot easier!

Im off Uni at the moment, so today is another lazy day for me.

Got up about half hour ago, Watching the Cricket at the moment (Can't believe we have half a chance to win the series) and will do absolutely nothing until around 6 when i'll make a move towards Roots Hall.

Hard life being a Student...

Mercilessly goad the QPR fan sitting opposite me all morning.

Fret at lunchtime that I may have tempted fate

Spend all afternoon saying that QPR will win in effort to redress balance

Refuse to do any work at all

Attend futile creative meeting at 4pm, spend it doodling and sighing

Find pub

Buy pint, drink

Repeat until blurry

Attempt to go to Shadwell to help Mrs Slipperduke move out. Fall asleep on bus. Wake up in Barking. Cry a little.

64 from 60 now!

Spend day pondering possible outcomes, finish at 5.30pm, struggle mile and a half down High Street and Victoria Avenue with big box of the latest issue of All At Sea, go to spread for an hour, rub sore arms, curse the fact I have to go out and sell aforementioned fanzines, then go out and stand in the cold for an hour and a quarter shouting and shivering.

Spare us a thought when walking past and buy a copy!

working until 5.30, constantly checking on here. being bored the whole day.

running out at 5.30 on the dot and getting home for dinner then off to the shrimpers bar!

..................................................makes no sense at all - you need a dose
of cold Essex air and the breath of several thousand Shrimper faithful all around you - don't you ever go to a game ?

*Night Before - Text boss to ask to leave early and not wear suit.

*Work - Spend most of day looking on SZ and thinking of offensive things to say to oppostion fans.

*Leave work and head back towards Brighton for lift to football

*Lift to football via Tesco's @ Eastwood.

*Qucik drink in the spread time/traffic permitting.

*Home just gone midnight.

Leave early.. more pints..
Feel sick with 6 pointer stress.

None of this working lark for me :hilarious: i woke up about 9:30 to the tune of Snow from the Red hot chilli peppers as my mates were ringing me to ask if i wanted to meet them in basildon about 11:30 which im doing then after wandering around basildon for a few hours we will get the bus back to chalkwell (where my mates live) stay round his untill approx 6:30 and have a stroll down to Roots Hall where ill meet my Grandad collect a programme before breezing through the turnstiles

gonna spend the first half watching out my window, whith bobble, and scarf and flask of bovril, then around half time, when my flat has become colder than alaska, watch the second half on sky with a bottle of becks...

Work until about 4-ish, get home in time for my mate to install some bits on my comp, head down the pub about 5:30-6 mind racing through every possible outcome of the game, a few pints, tuck in to a Chinese  :D make my way cold, excited, nervous and full up down Vic Ave about 7:15

Well the Cricket certainly set the day up for me :D

Now if Eastwood can perform like Collingwood, I think we'll be alright ;)

Well, if Eastwood gets 120 tonight, I'll be amazed!

More interesting maybe is a comparison between the England cricket team and Southend United.

After years of disappointment both worked hard to bring in the correct personnel in order to instill a strong and lasting worth ethic and team spirit.

Under the studious eye of this new management both teams began to perform and get results. It got better and better, maybe to the point of even peforming beyond the limits of their ability. Supporters began to think these teams were invincible. But...

Both teams then encountered severe problems at the next step up. Often being outclassed and embarrassed by the opposition supporters thought it was all over and the knives began to come out.

At Christmas there was no way back for either team.

BUT, a couple of good results and the team remember winning again. The togetherness and team spirit of not so long ago comes back strong.

People start to believe the impossible is possible again.

COME ON YOU BLUES!
