So he seemed to impress in the ressies game yesterday, out on the right wing.

So much so that he has been invited to step up from the youths, to train with the first team. - Echo

He is only 16 so not sure if he is eligible for the firsts?

But, a wee birdie tells me he is a much more exciting prospect than the recently departed Lyle Della -Verde.

High praise indeed and one to keep an eye on it seems.

Sounds good Smiffy - another one off of the Ricky Duncan conveyor belt. Given our limited resources, and non-academy status, it never ceases to amaze me how many real quality youngsters the man has developed. Here's hoping he is part of the furniture still once we move to FF and aim for full academy status.

Another player from the conveyor belt.

Reckon he'll be on the bench on Saturday and be given 5-10 minutes?

This is the problem with 5 subs as I doubt he will take up a space on the bench (unless we were mega short). With 7 subs, you could always afford a wildcard.

Something I believe Chris Kamara is lobbying for - that we can go back to 7 subs in the lower leagues, with the 2 extra spaces for players under 18 (so you can put youth through, but no necessarily having to pay appearance fees)

Agreed - or maybe make the ruling user friendly for clubs.

Maybe make the rules so that a minimum of 5 players can be selected but a maximum of 7. The two further spaces on the bench can only be for u/21 players, this way it encourages youth progression and is an excuse for clubs to not "have to" pick other squad players just to fill the bench.

How many off the famous conveyor belt have established themselves as a first team football league player either with us or with anyone else?

Have I miss this line of players We keep turning out?

Moussa was arguably a youth team product, Kane fair play and other than that Herd and Crawford who have both made little if any impact?

Well with Derby Liverpool and Fulham taking players in recent times from us, plus Moussa and Ferdinand breaking into our team thats not a bad amount of players being produced.

Exactly the point I was trying to make
Even those you mention show the lack of impact - Kane has not yet had a full year in the first team , dear old johnny h is now at ebbsfleet and harry will probably be joining him at that level sooner or later.
All those that have been transferred to Prem clubs amidst much outrage on here are never seen again. If we did get £100k up front for LDV will probably be a good bit of business.
I'm usually firmly in the rose-tinted specs brigade but to me 'Ricky Duncan's conveyor belt' seems to have less of value on it than Brucie's old Generation Game conveyor belt

Point taken but since when did any of our "first team" go for 100k recently ?

If I was JJ I'd be mighty worried about this development - could it be a smart bit of man management by Luggy to get JJ to raise his game ??

JJ will be out in January or on loan soon I reckon, not made any kind of positive impression on Luggy or the fans. Makes Louie Soares look like Nani and David Silva rolled into one.

Marlon was definetly our best player yesterday! Has bundles of energy, speed and enthusiasm and seems like a good listener and is keen to learn!

Whilst I agree I cant help but think JJ must have more to offer. He has been a good player for a few sides and my old boss is a MK fan and said he was brilliant. I wonder if he was given a bit of a run if he could play his way into form.

Best piece of insight on this thread.

I think he should be given a chance to test the waters. I remember Ferdinand being subbed after 20 minutes because he was out of his depth. The worst case scenario is that happens again. After that Ferdinand came back a better player. I feels performances haven't been the same since Easton departed - his defensive safety net.

If he does well, we'll probably get more money for him. Southampton are a good example of having players with potential that are put straight into the first team at 16-years-old. (Walcott, Bale, Chamberlain)
