Mark Gower

After this few games, it's ridiculous to say he's had his day with us. I'm sure he'll get a run in the team, much like Richie Foran appears to be the current substitute flavour of the month.

To be honest, I'd play Moussa ahead of both Gower and Foran. But not Black.

Surely this is a joke?!

Having only skimmed the comments on this thread, I apologise in advance if this pooint has already benn made, but I think Mark Gower did his back in during the reserve game, which is why he came off so early and is ery unlikely to be involved this weekend at all...........alledgedly

Surely that would be a fit and performing Gower.....

An off-form Mark Gower still creates more for us going forward than anyone else in the squad. At least until Tommy Black arrived anyway. Black looks like he can be real competition for Gower but right now is he playing any better than Gower was?

I would say black is looking more 'up for it' than gower was and playing quite well, I still think Gower when playing well is our best player and I hope he gets the chance to shine again, but black has earned his chance.

Let's not go overboard - a great player and 10 goals in a poor team is none too shabby, but he has his faults along with the rest of them (giving the ball away cheaply in our own half while trying to be clever is the most annoying one). He's fought back enough times from injuries/form dips and I'm sure this will be no exception.

Apart from the goals, you could be talking about Maher.

Are we being harsh here or not? Did he start underperforming because he was carrying an injury or did the injury occur after he started to drop off?

Either way, at the moment Black is deservedly the man in possession of the shirt.

I think Gower may struggle to get back into the team at the moment. With this newish system we are playing, we can only play either Black or Gower certainly not both. At the moment Black seems to be in possesion of the shirt with Gower coming off the bench.

At the moment I can't see him forcing his way in. I'm assuming he lost his place in the team because of illness, can anyone confirm?

According to Tilly he lost his place because of his form. Tilly also backs him to find his form again. So much for the "Tilly isn't ruthless enough", or the "Tilly has his favourites" arguments.

Confirmed in the paper today his back is fooked, maybe the Moooooooooooooooooos will figure on the bench this weekend
