Mark Gower is a Genius

First XI
Mark Gower was mental on Saturday. He played his heart out. It showed as well. We looked strong and intelligent, pushing forward all the time looking for another goal.

What a shot as well. Underside of the bar, it dosnt matter as he was in the right position. As for the run down the left wing in the first half when he jumped that bloody aweful tackle and kept going. That showed great pace and attitude and not diving like he'd been shot, like some premier league footballers i could mention.

Keep it up G man. A real inspriation!!!

Great post!! What a pleasure to see G man doing what he does best again!! Superb match on sat, and I thought against Swans. Struggled more against Swindon, but I really think that it due to how awful they are. Gower is a big game player, his performances in the Championship last season (along with his oal tally) show that!!

Keep it up indeed G man!!

 Even i as a Gower critic had to get up to applaud the lad as on Saturday he worked his socks off and played really well. Very refreshing to see him back to some good form and just at the right time. Long may he continue to play like that!

I think that although Gower's form has been up and down this season he's still very much been a key player.

A group of 'supporters' around me in the South Upper have verbally abused him so much this season that they obviously feel that they cannot stop regardless of how well he's playing.

Given the choice of higher attendances or less of these t*ssers I'd rather have a few empty seats around me!

Understandable though if the ** VOICES IN MY HEAD ** is to be believed!

Yes, as discussed many times over the past 18 months, we probably could do with a few of the less clued-up members of the support!

Gower's ball to Mulgrew for the goal looked sublime from where I was sat. First time ball threaded between defenders and perfectly weighted.

To me, 95% of his game looked the same as it always does but I suppose an attacking player gets credited with notable goal threatening moments. The shot against the bar looks even better on replay than it did at the time.

The difference is Gower was playing with confidence. It obviously took Gower a long time to recover from the confidence shattering abuse that ldnfatso dished out to him.

I can't f***ing win, i'm slated if i criticise and i'm called an ar*elicker if i give a compliment (Pubey's Rep). Anyone care to give me a solution to this connundrum?
Imho, Gower went through a horrible form patch and needed a good kick up the ar$e. Most of you on here thought we should pat him on the back and ignore that fact he was playing sh!t. Shame on you. At work i get a bollok!ng if i **** up, why should he be any different? Also when i do something well i get praise and so should he (which was what i was doing). Why is there such a problem in this?

ps DTS, your rep is disgraceful!

I wonder how much his improvement is down to Mulgrew's improvement? He now has someone prepared to go oustide him and help out in the same way Hammell used to. He hasn't got to do it all himself.

excellent point, it's funny how great wingers always seem to have very solid and established fullbacks behind them (often underrated). Mulgrew settling in seems to have seen Gower gradually build up some trust and understanding. It's a two way relationship and I think it's gradually developing between Francis and Black on the right wing

Great point actually, Mulgrew was i think a bit nervous to begin with but of late has been very solid and a good partner for Gower down the wing.

I'm as critical as the next man when it comes to Gower but it was nice that he apparently went a whole game ( until he was subbed of course ) without telling any supporters , teammates or the management team to eff off !!!
