Marcus Dackers Joins On Loan

Southend United are delighted to announce the signing of Marcus Dackers from Salford City, who joins the club on a month's loan.

The 6ft 7 striker began his career at Premier League champions Manchester City, who he joined at the age of five. That was where he remained until 2015 when he signed for Brighton & Hove Albion.

Dackers played six games for the Seagulls’ U18 side in 2020/21, also spending time on loan at Lancing while on the south coast.

After leaving Brighton, he signed for Salford in the summer of 2021. He has made two league appearances for the Ammies and came off the bench in a Papa John’s Trophy clash with Liverpool U21 earlier this season.

While at Salford, Dackers has had a couple of prolific loan spells at seventh-tier side Stalybridge Celtic and at National League North outfit Chester.

In the autumn of 2021, he scored seven goals in eight games for Stalybridge. He then joined former Football League side Chester in January 2022, and bagged nine goals in 19 appearances for them, including a brace in a 3-3 draw with Gloucester City.

Earlier this year, Dackers scored a 30-minute hat-trick for Salford in a pre-season friendly against Warrington Rylands.

The striker has also been nominated for the Rising Star at the North West Football Awards.

Marcus will wear the number 15 during his time at Roots Hall.

Welcome to Southend, Marcus!
