I'm still to warm to Sturrock, but fair play's a jewel, and from our situation 15 months ago the turn around has been remarkable. Hopefully we can maintain momentum on the pitch and the air of optimism blowing through the Zone.

Yeah same here I have no affinity with him as a person, but you cant argue with what he's done since he came here.

not heard much (negative) comment on the pre-season tour to scotland recently£10k well spent? Well done the shrimpers trust I'm sure everyone will agree

Time for a post from a wee birdie from cluniemore saying how he owes it all to the loyal Southend supporters who never doubted him for a moment.:winking:

Paul Sturrock is the winner.

Congrats Paul, well done boys!!!

Oh, XXXXXX!

In my experience whenever one of our managers has won MoM it's been the kiss of death.

But anyway, congratulations, Paul and the lads for getting it together and earning the recognition for a cracking achievement so far.

I think I'm right in saying that the first time we ever went top of the league under Tilly (Bristol Rovers at home in 04/05 just before the second LDV Final) was the game after he won Manager of the Month. So we've definitely survived the 'curse' at least once.

Congratulations Paul, fully deserved and about time he got some recognition for the excellent job he's done here. A quiet, modest man who just gets on with his job very effectively and shrewdly. Coughlan also deserves a mention for the way in which he's thrown himself into the assistant manager's role, I can really see him as a future manager somewhere. And of course the players deserve credit too. They've worked hard, learnt from bad performances and made themselves tough to beat. We seem to have a good team spirit and there's real competition for some places at the moment.

Well done Paul and thanks for all you've done since coming to the Blues. Here's to a long and successful association!

Well done to luggy and all concerned. Also recognition to Tara who has turned things round financially on the football side, finding the backing where he can to enable ps to bring in players like Harris and dicko.

Agree- real pro and truly hope he builds a great legacy to be proud of.
Championship coinciding with new ground, opening game vs Spammers, 22,000 sell out, 3-0 would be about do it!
