If Kev makes approx 55 more appearances for us (not entirely unprobable), he'd be in the all-time top ten of appearances for SUFC

I dont know if thats good or bad

Thats still a season. I personally think if he doesn't get sold/ released from his contract, he'll have his testimonail.

This IS Captain Fantastic we're talking about here. The man who will lead us back to Cardiff this season both in the LDV final (victors) and play-offs (losers), setting us up nicely for next season's rout of the division and another straight promotion the year after enabling us to resume our (un)rightful place in whatever the Championsh*t decides to call itself by then.

What a great servant and a fantastic example to us all.

You know I'm right.

There's only one Kevin Maher. The most underused song ever heard at Roots Hall

What a loyal servant to the club he's been.

I'd tip my hat to anyone in that top ten

...if I had a hat on

...and if I recognised them

True, Maher has been a loyal servant of the club, choosing to stay when there has been other offers, but he is also the common demoninator in all of our recent terrible seasons.

personally I feel it says more about our recent plight than about the players ability. He still has a long way to go, in my mind, to be in the same league as Moody, Pountney and others

Without all those suspensions he would be only a handful of appearances away.......

No the common demoninator in all our recent terrible seasons is the sh*te managers. One player does not make a team and at the end of the day Kev does not pick himself does he ?
rock.gif
So unless people are calling Dave Webb and Tilly clowns because both have kept Kev in the side when managing the team, I think you will find it is more likely due to my common demoninator the reason why we have been having terrible seasons.

IMO it does seem that way sometimes

How fed up am I of the Kevin Maher debate. He has more class than anyone else in our squad, and without him we lack ideas and creativity. He may not be the quickest in the world but his workrate, reading of the game and class shine through. To condemn him because he gets booked through his passion to win and do well is nonsense. I, for one, hope he remains at the Hall for years to come.

But what about his big eyebrows? Surely that's reason enough to hound him out of the club?

The best thing about that post is it is similar to the old saying used for the best players in the team. So you have sort agreed that Kev is one of our stars.

I agree we look a better team with him than without him.

I disagree however with the assertion that his bookings come from passion; they don't. They stem from his inability to refrain from unnecessary backchat to the ref. Even some of his bookings for fouls are simply because the ref has tired of his mouth. This is not passion, but ill-discipline.

I personally would like us to look a better team with him for 46 matches a season, not 38 - so I think criticism for his avoidable bookings is justified.

I think the Maher argument is pointless, lets just say that anybody who genuinely knows about football and what it takes to be a good player at this level will agree that he is class and a superb asset to this club.

and

Anybody who thinks he is not good enough is either having a wind up, knows nothing about football whatsoever or is under 12 years old and thinks that scoring goals is all that matters.

Just look at the stats this year and if possible Blues World and see just how many of our goals have come from Kevin Maher. He's Blue through and through, has been a consistent and loyal servant to the club and is clearly one of the best players in this division. I would say again, check the stats before you slate Super Kev.

Just what does he have to do to get some respect from some of you bell ends?
