Was an excellent evening.
Line ups and the players that played were a lot different to the programme and what Micky G announced.
Some proper Southend legends playing, however was disappointing the only centre forward that we managed to get was Matt Harold.
Flavs looked like he could still easily play, and Demi still had the legs too. Two exceptional saves from Flavs’ the first reminded me of that save vs Northampton.
Players on the premier league side, like Routledge, Kyle Reid & John O’Shea you could tell played higher. And no way was number 11 Stephen Hunt from Reading, I refuse to believe that. Good player mind. You could tell Mark Wright never played properly either.
Kev’s eldest son looked a good prospect. I know it’s a testimonial and most are playing at half pace, but he demanded the ball and used it well. His first touch was to receive the ball from Barrett with two of the Premier all stars chasing him down, no panic, and popped it off. Very much like our own Maher
Our side had lots of my favourite players from yesteryear.
I believe the line up for us was Flavs; Mark Wright, Adam Barrett, JD, Juppy; Nicky Nicolau, King Kev, Luke Guttridge, Benno, Currie; Harold.
Chris Powell appeared for both sides, two of Kev’s sons played for us, Mark Gower, Jimi Gower, David Lee, Leo Roget, Andy “Eagle” Edwards and Che Wilson came off the bench. May have missed someone. EDIT - I did, Michael Timlin. Thanks

Managed to have a catch up with Adam Barrett, still looks out for our results etc. and met Chris Powell for the first time, and he really is the nicest man in football.
A really enjoyable evening. King Kev, for EVERYTHING he has done for this club deserved a packed Roots Hall, so it was disappointing to have two stands shut, a handful in the North and a pretty full East. Pretty certain everyone there enjoyed themselves though.
