To be fair - Dublin was playing when Thompson took over from Peter Taylor. The team weren't too bad then!!

Fair point. Just remembering those wonderful moments of watching the fearsome strike force of Roger 'Harry' Willis and Keith Dublin. Peter Taylor and his transfer policy....the dread comes flooding back, I need a drink.

Don't be silly. That would require 4,000 supporters to swallow their pride and admit ORM has been right all along.

Maher 8 is a legend and surely not far from an international call up.

Still I suppose loyalty, having a tremendous record with assists, having the respect of your team-mates and being the most consistent player (check out the fans & players player of the season votes for the last few years) counts for nothing.

I was with you all the way until "international call up"

Hmmm, thinking about, not such a crazy idea.

Maher for the RoI!
King Cole for England U-21's!!

Now thats a def possibility. Could he be there in 2010?
Bramble for Montserrat!

A good season for Maher will see him pass Paul Clark. Altough I can see him easily surpassing Dave Robinsons attendances I can't quite see him beating his length of Service to the club....

Just to spark off another off-shoot (no pun intended) to this debate, how many players above Kev in that list have not had a testimonial? He must be due one soon?

He will complete his 10 years service in January 2008 I believe, so I guess his testimonial will be some time during the 2007/08 season (assuming he signs a new contract next summer). I guess Spurs will be favourites to provide the opposition.

To kick off another off-shoot (yes, I'm very bored at work today), how many of those in the top ten have you seen play? I'll kick off the bidding with 6.

Being an ancient git I have seen 8 play in Blues first team, I did not see Dave Robinson, and I saw Harry Threadgold play for the reserves.

I think I've seen 9 of them in action at Roots Hall.

Admittedly about 3 of them were actually playing, the other 6 I think I've seen introduced to the crowd at half time at various stages.

I've seen 6 in action (i.e. playing football, not just waving to the crowd, that just doesn't count).

But I can't count Ron as it was only his testimonial game.

Still, not too bad for someone under the age of 30 (just).
