Madeleine McCann Development

Since we've had the twins, unlike the McCanns i don't go abroad. I don't stay in hotel rooms where there is nothing to do after the kids go to bed. I holiday in the UK now i tow a caravan everywhere.
I know my little 'uns are tucked up snoozing in the 'van because i'm there with the wife. They're not out of sight and we can enjoy an evening in the awning with friends or on our own.

If we go to a restaurant, the kids come and eat with us. They might have a late night but the point is, they are with us. Surely, going on holiday is a chance to spend time as a family, watching your kids is so much fun and as we both work all week (like the McCanns) we look forward to spending quality time together and our friends can wait (unlike the McCanns).

People like these two got punished in the worst way possible. But you could say they were lucky not to lose all 3 kids that night.
To go out and leave children behind is wrong and you are neglecting them in this day and age. I would never go out for a meal and leave the kids behind, they're part of the family and they get fed at the same time as you.

Besides, that girl is a beauty and the twins look adorable. Wouldn't they want to show them off to freinds ffs ??

From someone who spent years waiting for children of my own, i say that sometimes people don't deserve to have kids of their own.

How true that is,

It must be so frustrating for some of the more deserving and capable women that it seems to be the 15 year old single mothers (who have neither the maturity nor the no how to raise a child) that can churn babies out like they are running a production line at Lesneys.

The thing is mate, you wouldn't leave your motor unattended if you parked it somewhere really dodgy!

Some 15yr olds make good mothers and i've no beef with them. Let the conception be the last mistake they made where kids are concerned. It's people who treat children as an inconvenience to their considerably packed social agendas that get my goat.

Give the kids the love and attention they crave and they and you will benefit forevermore. Ignore them at your peril.

in the context of this thread that's a pretty strange statement. There are plenty of single mums who are neglectful or just bad, and plenty of children who are brought up in terrible circumstances, however the McCanns showed that it's not just teenage single mums (using your example) that can be so unbelievably stupid.

As Shrimp and Two Veg has said, there are also plenty of very young mothers and families who do a great job of providing for their child when they have very little to give. We might all cast critical glances when we see a screaming kid being berated by a young mother on the high street... whilst it might be bad parenting or whatever, it would be unfair to start saying they are 'less deserving' or whatever. Just because they haven't got a load of money or weren't brought up by educated parents doesn't mean that they are a less deserving or less loving parent.

As I mentioned before, I'm sure peoples reaction would be very different if it wasn't Gerry and Kate McCann (respected white middle-class and educated people with a pretty blonde daughter) and instead a single black mother with no job.

Fair point Jon, less deserving was the wrong thing to imply, the observation I was trying to make was that young women around 15 seem to conceive so much more easier compared to woman who are say 10 years older. I guess a woman's body must be more fertile at 15 than it is in the mid to late 20's

That's because at 15 they're invariably being stupid enough to think "it won't happen to me" and often not using precautions, nothing to do with fertility.

I apologise in advance for the insensitivity of what I'm about to say. I would like to clarify that whatever has happened to Maddy is every parents worst nightmare and is just heartbreaking to think about.

However, I wonder how Kate McCann would have got on in the MILF Cup if she'd have been nominated...?

You are correct. Women who reach 25 are as much as 50% less fertile, old age eh? For those of us that pray we'll have children of our own but cannot concieve for one reason or another (often there is no reason), to see such flippant parenting can be galling i can tell you.
Those couples that have lost children during pregnancy, you think they would sod off to a bar down the road, in a strange country, leaving their offspring in an apartment?

They ought to throw the stupid bitch McCann in the slammer 'till they find that poor little girl and let it be a reminder to the rest of us.

I wouldn't give her one. If she did end up pregnant, I would worry that one day my child would be left in a room alone and get taken.

I bet you've never ever made a mistake. Morality's never black and white. You should be more humble.
This has been done to death.

Forgetting to turn the telly off before going to bed is a mistake. Taping the wrong channel for the missus is a mistake.

Leaving a 3 year old home alone is NOT a mistake, it is a tragedy. If it would have happened in this country, it would have been neglect, the law states as such.
