Low Team Morale

Magnum PI

Private Detective
Just been speaking to a friend of mine who was chatting to a fella called Lawrence Revell at a local football match today. He was bigging himself up and mentioned his brother also played football, for Southend United. Without any prompting, he went on to say he doesnt know how long for though, as Alex is completely fed up that the club is going nowhere, hasnt got any money - and that feels they could be in big financial trouble. He said morale is really low, and there is little hope for the season. This could I suppose have been exaggerated by his brother but the underlying vibes arent too good.

While we all are aware we are in financial troubles, this doesnt really sounds good does it? I thought Revell was probably one of the positive ones

I suggest Alex might want to have words with his brother then cos he could get him in deep whatsit with the club spouting off like that.

Ok, I know stuff has happened since then but watching the interaction and body language, there was no sign of any bad feeling or concern last weekend at MTBD. Everyone was laughing and joking, I refuse to believe they are all THAT good at acting.

We'd have a £150,000 more in the bank if we hadn't have signed him so it's partially his fault.

It's clearly Ying and Yang. While our Alex is the type who'd tap out his own rhythm to a chinese water torture and shrug off the cardamon pods in his curry with no hint of malice, his brother is obviously somewhat less cheerful. Bet he's rubbish at cooking too!

Alex Revell might be discontent at the club but others might be enjoying it, for all we know Barnard could be delighted at this moment in time, we'd only find out if the morale is low on Saturday if the players fail to communicate properly with each other.

Revell seems a very nice guy..But to be honest he has hardly set the world alight since he has been at the club..If anybody goes into tackles like him , no wonder they break legs...I don't think he is League 1 standard..great guy, works hard ..thats it.

Bingo.

Unfortunately.

Always suspicious of people who wear permanent grins on their face. This could be a récipe for disaster. :)
If swine flu could be translated into computer form, I reckon that's what we've got.
This depressive illness is spreading like wildfire on SZ and perhaps the moderaters need to move in with some anti-viral or anti-depressant censorship, less we all go down with it...........if we're not careful it could even get passed onto the team prior to Huddersfield.

I await the day when someone who knows someone says something nice about the club.

Revell should count himself lucky he's a professional footballer and with a paltry return 4 goals in 31 league appearances since joining us, I doubt many clubs will be clambering over each other for his signature.

If you're a target man style forward like Revell, It's kind of hard to score goals in a team without wingers.

Revs is a very nice bloke and a good character to have in the squad, but I don't think he is full of goals even with wingers.
He can't make his own chances and plays far too deep as he really needs it on a plate to score.

Revell stated on a few occasions last year that he doesn't see himself as a target man. IMO he's alright as a back up player, and appears from his blogs as a good morale booster within the squad. I wouldn't expect more than 10-15 goals in a season from him though.

Edited for accuracy

If you're going to quote me then please have the decency to make it appear that I DO have a command of the English language - I'm perfectly aware that my comment contained the correct use of capital letters.

And I fail to see why you would come out with a comment like that, do you have a personal insight into the dressing room then?
