London Marathon 2022 - Havens Hospice

TheSouthendUnitedRunner

The poster formerly known as BoyWonder2 ⭐🦐
A very rare venture into Homers Bar for me on here, but with good reason.

I’ve been given a place in this years London Marathon (October 2022), which is a dream come true for me. I’ve ran Brighton once, and Manchester twice, but this will be my first experience running the London Marathon.

I’ve been given a place to run for Havens Hospice, who are a charity I’ve done bits for in the past, and am over the moon to be part of Team Havens.

Here is a little bit of history about my running (This needs to be updated) and weight loss journey:

https://groups.runtogether.co.uk/CoachMikeEdwards/MyStory

I’d love to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity, but I appreciate money is incredibly tight these days. If anyone is able to spare absolutely anything, it would be much appreciated, especially from the Shrimpers family. Here is the link;

I’ll be doing a couple of bits closer to the day, where you can win some money also from guessing my time, and also “owning a mile”, but more will be explained when I’ve finalised those.

As I say, if anybody could donate absolutely anything, it would mean the world to me, and help an incredible, and local, charity.

Mike.

Yesterday marked 16 weeks until London Marathon, and also the Southend Half Marathon. Did anyone take part?

How would you like to win a 2022/2023 replica Southend United shirt of your choice (home or away, and you pick the size) for just a £5 donation to my fundraising.

If you are able to donate just £5, and let me know when you’ve done it on here, I will be picking out a people at random to win the new shirt for the upcoming season. You will have the choice of home or away, and I’ll get it posted out to you in your size.

My charity of choice is Havens Hospice, and the link to donate is:

Hi Mike.

Well done that will be an amazing achievement.

Havens are very dear to my heart and I give / donate regularly to such a deserving and wonderful charity.

All the best for everything you are doing 👏👏

I’ve been given a place in this years London Marathon (October 2022), which is a dream come true for me., but this will be my first experience running the London Marathon.
I ran it 3 times back in my 'hey day', 87, 88 & 89. Best advice i can offer, is when you run over the cobbles ( in between Tower Of London & the Thames ), if you can try to keep off them when possible.
Because you've been running on a flat surface before then, they tend to make you 'totter' a bit, which does your legs no good at that stage of the run., & could contribute to cramping up.

Another little bump, as we are now 100 days away from the London Marathon.

Today is set to be a good day, with potentially three new signings to be announced, so if you fancy getting your hands on a 2022/2023 Southend United replica shirt for just £5, please enter into our draw by donating just £5 on my Just Giving page.

All the money will be going to Havens Hospice, who do such amazing work. The shirt will be coming out of my pocket.

You’ll have the choice of the home, away or third shift. Or even goalkeepers if that’s your thing.

The link to donate and enter this draw is:

Now our home shirt has been released, this feels like the perfect time to give this another bump.

As you all will have gathered by now, your favourite 😉 ITK poster is running The London Marathon for Havens Hospice.

As an excellent, local charity, I’ve put on a competition for Southend United fans to win a replica 2022/2023 shirt for just £5 (RRP of the adults is £45). You will have the choice of home, away, third and goalkeepers kit, and can pick between adult & junior if you’d like to give it away to a young Shrimper.

All money raised will be going to Havens Hospice, and I’ll be getting the shirt out of my own pocket.

For just a £5 donation to the following link, you’ll be entered into a draw, with the winner getting their hands on this seasons shirt.

The link to donate is Win a 2022/2023 Southend United shirt for just £5

As and when people donate, please include your SZ name, so I can thank you and make contact should you win the shirt.
