Loanee Watch 2021-22

Johnny White, second left in white and grey shirts, going up for a corner this eve for Wimborne in their 0-1 home defeat v Steve Claridge's Salisbury.
Had a five min chat with JW after the final whistle, a top man as always. He just wants to play and so took the opportunity to come to Dorset. Says it's hard for the team to keep taking the defeats but added that it's a great set up at the club and he seems to be enjoying it. He had a decent game at the back, kept coming up for set pieces, but thankfully his failure to notch a last minute equaliser defrauded the Wimborne public of a Shrimper pitch invasion.

Tendi Quamini grabbed a brace last night as Walthamstow smashed Woodford 4-0. He got the first driving down the left touch line from near the halfway line past two players before cutting in, although he was assisted by a big deflection. His second and Walthamstow’s 4th was a well taken finish.

You can see the goals (and although not Shrimper related check out that run by Osei for their third)

Opposition were pretty average .

Some insane stats from Jon Benton at Aveley. He’s certainly one I hope we don‘t let go in the summer. Worth letting him stay at Aveley for the promotion push and then get him in the squad after the summer break and pre-season to see what he can do.

For those that are interested, attached is a visual representation of the information throughout this thread (plus some extra information that I researched online, mainly concerning Harlow Town appearances that were missing at the time the matches took place).

So far this season 28 Blues players have made a total of 264 appearances whilst on loan (11 at Step 1 of the National League System, 27 at Step 2, 100 at Step 3, 119 at Step 4 and 7 at Step 5) scoring 35 goals (11 at Step 3, 20 at Step 4 and 4 at Step 5).

Most loan appearances so far:
Jon Benton (26), Eren Kinali (22), Miles Mitchell-Nelson (21), Demaray Anyadike (20), Jimmy Wallace (20)

Most loan goals so far:
Jon Benton (15), Eren Kinali (6), Tendi Quamina (4)

We can all get carried away from time to time. I said to my friends I think Yearwood will play in the Premier League. I'm still waiting on that one.

For what it's worth I thought Klass would do more for us than he ended up doing. I saw him play twice. He had good size, made tidy passes.
I'm with you on that one about Yearwood. I remember saying after the pre season friendly at Braintree that Dru could be the best prospect we've had for years. I suppose getting signed by Brentford and now playing in the States he hasn't done too bad though.

I told pretty much all my Premiership supporting mates that Dru would play in the Premiership and for England! In fairness though he was absolutely bossing our midfield in League One at the time at the age of 18/19!

Oli Coker has gone off on 41 minutes. I’m going to guess that’s an injury. East Thurrock are 1-0 up v Potters Bar.

The half-time show in the Hampshire Senior Cup is hilarious. There’s some random Yank mispronouncing all the place names and asking about soccer presenting it.
He did manage to get a mention in the East Thurrock match report::

"Ollie Coker was inches away from Ollie Spooners cross after the ball was flicked on by Miles".

Anyone cannot get into first team for an club two level below, deserve to be let go!
But wasn’t he once marked 7/10 by the non league paper while on loan in the Conference? That made him one of their best players if I remember correctly?
Our young players on loan at another club had to be their best players to break in our first team, Benton is an prime example, he would get in ahead of Gard & Dunne etc.
Benton is plying his trade at Bostik North level. He’s 20. He needs to prove what he can do at a higher level than that if he’s to prove to be better than Gard or anyone else playing National league or National South….

Josh Coulson’s King’s Lynn drew 1-1 at bottom club Dover in front of 511 fans. King’s Lynn were 1 down at half-time but got a 66th minute equaliser.

Matt Rush was back in the Chelmsford starting line-up at Hemel Hempstead and created the first for the Clarets by driving into the box and picking out Charlie Sherringham. He then scored their second goal on 69 minutes when he turned a cross in. That should have been the winner but Chelmsford then conceded twice in the remaining 20 minutes to draw 2-2.

Ollie Coker was fit enough to take his place in the East Thurrock side at home to Merstham. He played 48 minutes before going off with Thurrock one up. They doubled their lead soon afterwards and held onto win 2-0, their 3rd win in a row to move them out of the automatic relegation places, a remarkable turnaround.

After their Hampshire Senior Cup victory Terrell Egbri and Rob Howard were on the bench for Farnborough. Egbri was a 64th minute sub in a 0-0 draw to 3rd place Hayes and Yeading. Farnbrough are 4th with a game in hand on Hayes and two games in hand on 2nd place Met Police.

John White retained his place for Wimborne but that clean sheet still remains elusive as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat that leaves Wimborne requiring snookers at the bottom.

Eren Kinali was in the Hendon line-up at home to Beaconsfield and unlike Dalby scored a 66th minute penalty. Hendon later added a second and won 2-0.

In a massive game at the top Miles Mitchell-Nelson was back in the Canvey line-up against Maldon & Tiptree. Canvey took the lead after just 15 seconds but Maldon fought back to take a 3-1 lead at the break - their third apparently being a Charlie Kelman-esque effort from the centre-circle. Mitchell-Nelson flashed a glancing header just wide as Canvey sought to get back into the game. Canvey ended up losing 4-1.

Luke Reeve, Jaden Crowhurst and Louis Arrowsmith were all in the Great Wakering side who lost 3-2 at home to Felixstowe. Arrowsmith scored for Wakering.

There were first starts for Cameron Brown and Callum Burkey as AFC Sudbury faced struggling Hullbridge. Still no Anyadike for Hullbridge. Burkey was subbed on 49 minutes with the score 1-1 and they conceded 5 minutes later. Brown was then subbed on 61 minutes. It finished 2-1, a much needed win for Hullbridge at the bottom that draws them level with Wakering and Basildon.

Jimmy Wallace was at the heart of the Witham defence up against Jon Benton’s Aveley. Witham took the lead but promotion chasing Aveley equalised from a Benton corner. Benton’s next involvement was scoring Aveley’s fifth in the 85th minute, slipping the ball between the keeper’s legs. Aveley are now 5 points clear of second placed Canvey.

Tendi Quamini played for the champions Walthamstow at home to Southend Manor. It finished 0-0.

Struggling Great Wakering were in Isthmian North action against Tilly’s Heybridge. Saturday’s goal scorer Louis Arrowsmith found himself on the bench but Luke Reeve and Jaden Crowhurst started for Wakering.

Arrowsmith came on at half-time with Wakering 3-0 down. Arrowsmith cut the arrears just after the hour mark but all 3 loanees had second half shots saved by the Heybridge keeper as it finished 3-1 Heybridge.

Tendi Quamini played for the champions Walthamstow at home to Southend Manor. It finished 0-0.

Non-Southend related but this is that Maldon effort. Nice.

Matt Rush’s goal is a bit tame in comparison but is about 2:30 mins in (and his assist is after about 30 seconds). Proper goalscorer’s movements in the box.

In the Southern League Premier South last night Terrell Egbri came on as a 71st minute sub with promotion chasing Farnborough 1-0 down and was booked two minutes later. The home team Tiverton scored a second in injury time to wrap up a 2-0 win. An 18-0 win against their mid table opposition would have taken Farnborough top. No Rob Howard on the bench and no Ricky Holmes once more - now there’s a bullet dodged.

Jon Benton played in Aveley’s shock 2-1 defeat at home to Hashtag Utd. No Reiss Chandler again. Benton hit the bar but it was direct from a corner.

Miles Mitchell-Nelson’s Canvey can cut the deficit to two points if they can beat bottom of the table Romford tomorrow.

Josh Coulson’s King’s Lynn were at home to Yeovil. They conceded a last minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw in a match which both sides finished with 10 men, although King’s Lynn had a man advantage for half an hour.

Level 6
After his goal at the weekend Matt Rush was in the Chelmsford starting line-up as they played Tonbridge Angels, with whom he had a loan spell last year. He was subbed for Simeon Jackson in the 78th minute with the score 1-1.

Eren Kinali was in the line-up as Hendon slumped to a 3-0 defeat.

John White picked up his first clean sheet since August as Wimborne played 18th place Hartley Wintney and won 1-0.

Terrell Egbri was on the bench as Farnborough hosted Poole Town. No Rob Howard once more. Farnborough won 2-0.

Isthmian Prem
No Ollie Coker for East Thurrock who grabbed a last minute equaliser.

Luke Reeve, Jaden Crowhurst and Louis Arrowsmith all played for Great Wakering at Coggeshall. They fell behind after only 5 minutes but fought back to claim a point against their fellow strugglers. All 3 Shrimpers had efforts at goal.

Jimmy Wallace was in the Witham line-up as 3rd bottom side played 3rd top Stowmarket. 3rd top took the lead after 15 minutes and went onto win 2-1.

No Demaray Anyadike again for Hullbridge, despite being fit as he played for the u23s midweek. Hullbridge lost 4-1.

No Callum Burkey or Cam Brown for AFC Sudbury who won 3-0 v Maldon.

Miles Mitchell-Nelson was back on the bench for Canvey as they faced bottom club Romford. They didn’t need his defence as they scrapped a narrow 13 (thirteen)- 0 win. That could be crucial as before the game top of the table Aveley had an 8 goal advantage over Canvey, although Aveley are still to play Romford.

Level 9
No Tendi Quamini as champions Walthamstow played at Hoddeston.

Josh Coulson’s King’s Lynn were thumped 4-1 by Notts County (that’s one more than we conceded the other week to them). Coulson was booked after 58 minutes for a bad foul.

Matt Rush played for Chelmsford at St Albans. He combined well to help set up their second in a 3-0 win. He won 10% of the votes for man of the match.

Jon Benton was up against Romford who shopped 13 last time out. He won the penalty for their second. Reiss Chandler came on as a sub after 62 minutes with them 2-0 up before Benton made it 3. The game finished 4-1 to Aveley, who missed the chance to improve their goal difference the way promotion rivals Canvey did when they won 13-0.

No Demaray Anyadike again for Hullbridge.

Ollie Coker was back in the East Thurrock line-up as they tried to save themselves from relegation. They were 2-0 down at half-time but Ollie Coker cut the deficit just before the hour mark and they equalised shortly afterwards to increase the gap between them and the relegation spots. It’s been quite a turnaround and they seem to have come back in a lot of games.

Southern Premier League South
Eren Kinali was up against Terrell Egbri in the battle of the on loan wingers. Egbri was only on the bench though (Rob Howard didn’t even make the Farnborough squad). Farnborough held onto a first half lead, with Kinali unable to break down the Farnborough defence even though they played all but 3 minutes of the second half with 10 men after a fight saw someone red carded for throwing a punch. Egbri came on for the last 9 minutes to help see out a 1-0 win.

John White played for Wimborne against Swindon Supermarine. After a rare good result against a fellow struggler this time Wimborne shipped three to mid table Swindon Supermarine and their only highlight was a last minute consolation when a corner went straight in. It finished 3-1 Supermarine.

Level 8

Relegation threatened Great Wakering had Jaden Crowhurst and Luke Reeve in their line-up against a team at the other end of the table in Miles Mitchell-Nelson’s Canvey, albeit he was only on the bench. Wakering pulled off a shock 1-1 draw thanks to a penalty with 10 minutes to go. Crowhurst’s set pieces delivery having been their main threat until then.

Also in the bench against a team-mate (today’s theme) was Cameron Brown who was on the bench for mid table AFC Sudbury at home to Jimmy Wallace’s relegation threatened Witham. Wallace was booked after 42 minutes. Brown came on after 68 minutes to see out a 3-2 win.

The East Thurrock match report; a few mentions for Ollie Coker:

Rocks never say die attitude continues.

The Rocks fought back from 2 goals down at half time to earn a crucial point in their fight against relegation.

Wingate took the lead on 17 minutes when Ofori cut inside from the right and curled in a low shot. Rocks then had an effort from Tom Barton go just wide.

On the half hour Johnny Ashman was played in by Ollie Coker but his shot went wide of the post.

Wingate made it 2-0 on 35 minutes when Dylan Kearney who had been posing a threat all half shot past Janata.

The Rocks came out in the second half and started as though they had just had the hair dryer treatment from manager Marc Harrison, Coker having a fierce free kick go just wide. Coker then fired home an unstoppable shot in the 58 minute to make the score 2-1, Janata in the Rocks goal was on top form tipping over what looked like a certain goal from Cotter.

Rocks seemed to grow in strength as the game went on, 5 minutes later they were level. Barton heading home Coker’s perfectly taken corner.

Rocks carried on trying to get the winner, unfortunately it wasn’t to be.
What ever happens now, there is one thing for sure. Marc, Liam and their team now resemble a team that can compete at this level and should fear no one.
We go to Cray Wanderers Wednesday night and have our final game on Saturday when we’re at home to Horsham.
