Loanee Watch 2020/21

Richard Taylor made his 4th appearance for Barnet and his first under their caretaker manager Saturday when he come on as sub in the 64th minute. Barnet were 2-0 down at the time and no further goals were scored. His chances of his loan spell being extended were perhaps improved when Barnet had a defender sent off in the 90th minute - that defender's suspension might open up an opportunity for Taylor to impress.

Elsewhere, Rob Howard has joined Kings Lynn, one place but 11 points above Barnet in the Conference, on loan until the end of the season. Is there actually relegation from the Conference this season?

This is curious timing as Howard is historically a right-back and our first choice right-back is now absent on international duty but this could be a case of seeing whether Howard is ready for this level next season.

Kings Lynn are away at Altrincham tomorrow evening whilst Barnet are not due in action until the weekend.

Agreed with the timing, hopefully it doesn't come back to bite us.

But that's a great move for Rob, very good level to gain some valuable minutes. I can potentially see him as part of future plans of the club as a backup right back and beyond.

Can't say the same about Richard though, would imagine he won't get another contract in the summer. Just think there is too much discrepancy about what his best position actually is, played LB, CB and Striker for us. Also has a questionable temperament.

Think you may have that the wrong way round. Richard Taylor is a year younger, has more first team experience and a higher ceiling than Rob Howard. He's exactly the type of player you hang onto for an extra year to see if he develops further. Howard is much more likely to be released IMO.

You think? Can't say I agree, where do you think his best position is?

Maybe I am thinking it from MM's position. R Taylor doesn't strike me as Molelsey 'type' player if that makes any sense. Where as MM has publicly praised Howard and said he was one of the hardest workers.

Howard could come in handy as we could end up with a RB shortage, will Elvis still be here next season? Where as I wouldn't say we have or will end up with a CB shortage (If R Taylor decides that is his favoured position)

Not sure if Howard is a right-back or a holding midfielder to be honest but then at the same age we didn't know where Ryan Leonard was going to play.

I also think thinking it from Molesley's perspective is the wrong perspective. This isn't a first team decision it is an u23 decision and that is Ricky Duncan's world (Ron has apparently made Ricky more involved in first team affairs anyway).

Even looking at it from Molesley's perspective I read far more into him selecting Richard Taylor 16 times this season in all competitions than I do into his words.

Howard has impressed me every time ive seen him play.
Hes an aggressive right back , good talker ( captain of the ressies often ) + not afraid to power forward. Hes got decent speed , brave & is one of our own. I'm sure Elvis will get his well deserved move to a proper club & Demi will probably move on aswell , so i would certainly mould Howard into the no.2 shirt for next season. Similar to when Lenny was right back , you very rarely see a left winger actually take Howard on and get past him, which traditionally is the primary job of a RB.

It sickens me that we have wasted so much time + money on bang average out of form/ returning from injury / name players from other clubs and totally ignoring quality players like Klass , Phillips , Kyprianou , Rush who proved they can do at league 1 level yet apparantly not good enough at league 2 & should be the very players we build a team around for next season

The only one I'd say has proved it at L1 level is Kyps, who oddly seems to be out of favour. Rush definitely hasn't, Phillips has played 3-4 games at L1 level? Klass has had more chances but for every game he does well he has one where he seems anonymous.

Do you think Howard is a better prospect than Ryan Auger was?

Like you, I thought Auger had a bit about him.

Probably bringing back as cover. God help us if he has to play any part in the rest of our season. Dreadful

Would love to know honestly what you feel justifies this type of comment about a young lad working his nuts off to make a career in the toughest industry in the world during an era that has challenged all of our ability to simply get up and face another day.

Or alternatively

"Taylor, unfortunately, sustained an injury in his last appearance in our home defeat to Chesterfield and therefore returned to Southend slightly ahead of schedule."

Elsewhere Rob Howard made his second start for King's Lynn at home to Eastleigh. They got off to the worst possible start when Jack Payne (not that one,) scored in the opening minute however a second half comeback with goals from Gash and a Simeon Jackson penalty gave Kings Lynn a welcome win.

Taylor, RHF, Olayinka, Cordner......I think that's all. So 4/22 = 18%. Have I missed someone....?

For comparison Barrow have five loanees, Col Ewe have three, Grimsby have six, Walsall have four.
