Loanee Watch 2019/20

Norman Wabo not out on loan?

He’s no longer plays for us, signed for Dartford. Had a great first month where he was voted player of the month and hasn’t really done much since.

Ah right. He came on after 68 minutes today, two minutes later set up (exquisite pass!) to the striker who scored.

Courtesy of the excellent @sufcacademy on twitter, midweek round-up

@Rushymatt11 scored his third hat-trick of the season as @HarlowTownFC defeated Hertford Town 6-2 in the Velocity Trophy. Rush scored on 1, 49 and 50 minutes for the Hawks, who also had @MilesMitchellN and @TerrellEgbri7 in their starting line-up.

@SamKnock01 completed another 90 minutes for @HullbridgeFC as they enjoyed a thrilling 4-3 victory over Tilbury in the Velocity Trophy. Knock was cautioned late on, having earlier effecting a goal-saving challenge in the second period.

@JonBenton_10 scored for the third consecutive match for @GWRovers as they recorded a 2-0 Velocity Trophy win away to Canvey Island. Benton completed 65 minutes, netting a sixth minute penalty to put Rovers in front, before being replaced.

@OshaneCStewart set up the first goal for @margate_fc as they defeated Merstham 2-1 in the Isthmian League Premier Division. Midfielder O'Shane completed 75 minutes before being replaced ahead of 'Gate's late winner at Hartsdown Park.

With many of our loaness likely to return to play in the Essex Senior Cup, a quick recap of the weekend (with thanks to the brilliant @sufcyouth on twitter)

level 5
In the Conference 20 year old Michael Klass played his first 90 minutes for Bromley. Having been unbeaten for the first 13 games of the season Bromley had been struggling of late with 3 defeats in 4 but they returned to winning ways by thrashing leaders Halifax 5-0 to return to the top of the table (their last six matches have all been against teams in the top 8), which I suspect means Klass is going to get a few more starts.

level 6
20 year old Tom Clifford started for @ConcordRangers as they fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Havant & Waterlooville in National League South.
Fellow 20 year old Rob Howard didn't feature in Dartford's squad for their 1-1 draw at home to Chippenham.

Level 7
18 year old @OshaneCStewart was an unused substitute for @margate_fc as they were held to a goalless draw away to Barking in The FA Trophy.

Level 8
Despite midweek hattrick hero Matt Rush being unavailable as he was on the bench at Roots Hall, Shrimpers scored all 3 goals for Harlow away at Chalfont St Peter. A frenetic final 5 minutes of the first half saw Harlow score an OG, Terrell Egbri equalise only for the homeside to retake the lead. However the 18 year old Egbri scored his second on 61 and fellow 18 year old Miles Mitchell-Nelson grabbed a 93rd minute winner to send Harlow top.

18 year old Jon Benton played 90 minutes for Great Wakering in a 2-2 draw with Brentwood for whom 19 year old Ide Osimeh made a return (from injury?) as a sub in the 69th minute. No Zac Pianim (20 years old) though for Brentwood.

18 year old Sam Knock started for Hullbridge Sports in their 2-1 defeat at Histon. He was booked in the 88th minute.

With thanks to the excellent @sufcyouth on twitter

Level 5

@mklass10 started for National League leaders @bromleyfc at the weekend as they lost 1-0 away to Wrexham. Klass was substituted after 56 minutes with the scoreline goalless at the time.

Level 6
@_tomclifford99 started for @ConcordRangers as they won 3-1 against Hemel Hempstead Town in National League South. The victory moves the Beachboys into the top half of the table.

No Rob Howard for Dartford's game this weekend or midweek. Not sure if he's injured - he played last week for the u23s in the Essex Senior Cup.

No Harry Phillips for Billericay Town either, He's joined them on loan and was due to make his debut only for the game to be called off after someone drove onto the pitch

Level 7
Midfielder O'Shane Stewart completed 90 minutes for @margate_fc as they won 2-1 away to Corinthian-Casuals in the Isthmian League Premier Division.
He also played last night in the Kent Senior Cup, including a mazy run when he beat 3 players before overhitting the pass, but they lost 4-1.

Level 8
It was another good afternoon for Miles Mitchell-Nelson and Terrell Egbri as they helped @HarlowTownFC beat Westfield 2-0 in Isthmian League South Central. Terrell scored his 6th goal of the season and Miles helped the Hawks register a clean sheet.

@JonBenton_10 played 67 minutes for @GWRovers at the weekend as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Bury Town in Isthmian League North. Benton went close in the first minute with a fierce shot and also fired over early in the second period.
He also started last night in the Velocity Trophy game against Hullbridge that was abandoned due to injury with Gt Wakering 2-0 up. He fired Wakering ahead but was substituted on the hour with Gt Wakering a goal up.

@SamKnock01 didn't play in that match but he completed 90 minutes for @HullbridgeFC as they lost 1-0 at home to Coggeshall Town in Isthmian League North at the weekend. Hullbridge were beaten by a second half penalty and played almost 45 minutes with ten men.

@ZakPianim is claiming the second goal in @BrentwoodTownFC's remarkable comeback away to Felixstowe & Walton United in Isthmian League North. Brentwood trailed 3-0 shortly after half-time but eventually recorded a 3-3 draw.

...No Rob Howard for Dartford's game this weekend or midweek. Not sure if he's injured - he played last week for the u23s in the Essex Senior Cup...

I think Rob Howard may have returned from his loan spell, which was initially one month but then extended. He was training with the few remaining U23s at Boots & Laces on Saturday morning. Dartford have recently appointed Steve King as their new manager, and Rob hasn't featured there since he took charge of his first match on 19th October.

Level 5
Michael Klass' Bromley play Bristol Rovers tomorrow in the cup - will be interesting to see if he has permission to play.

Level 6
Tom Clifford equalised for Concord after half an hour of their National League South match at Bath City but Bath ran out 3-1 winners.

Harry Phillips came off the bench after 57 minutes for his Billericay debut in their FA Cup 1st round match at Forest Green. Billericay were 3-0 down at the time and went onto lose 4-0.

Level 7
O'Shane Stewart started for Margate at home to Tooting in the FA Trophy 2nd Qualifying Round. He had a goal disallowed for off-side and was part of a double substitution after they went 2-0 down on 48 minutes. The change didn't work as they still lost 4-0.

Level 8
Sam Knock v Zac Pianim was postponed because of an unplayable pitch.

Jon Benton played 86 minutes for Great Wakering who won 1-0 at Soham Town in the Isthmian League North. Soham had former Shrimper Ryan Auger playing for them.

Was an unused sub in their 1-1 draw at Bristol Rovers. Alas, we no longer have to worry about him being cup-tied this season.

Harlow didn't play. They did however sign the fantastically named Hugo Constantine Odogwu-Atkinson.

I was at Hullbridge reserves on Saturday they were telling me they are pleased with Sam Knock so far. He can play CB or right back and looks good on the ball.

Best name ever! Even beats Tauriq Olomowewe!

Seen online that Harry Seaden is playing for Cambridge City on a work experience loan

Good find. He's joined them whilst their first choice is suspended.

Harry Seaden played for Isthmian North (Level 8) Cambridge City in their 2-1 win at Witham. He was involved in a mix up for Witham's goal and was booked in the 81st minute, presumably for timewasting.

The ever increasing loanee watch

Level 5
Michael Klass on the bench for Bromley's match at home to Harrowgate. He wasn't needed as leaders Bromley came back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3.

Level 6
Tom Clifford started for Concord in their 3-3 draw against Dorking. The beach boys came back from 3-1 down.

Rob Howard's stint at Dartford seems over as Exiled Shrimper suggested.

No Harry Phillips for Billericay in their 1-0 win against Dulwich Hamlet.

Level 7
No O'Shane Stewart for Margate against Bowers and Pitsea. Margate won 1-0 without him.

Level 8
Freddy Eastwood Jr started for Canvey in their 1-1 draw against a Jon Benton-less Great Wakering.

Jason Demetriou played 90 minutes for Cyprus against Scotland. He was booked in an embarrassing 2-1 home defeat for the Cypriots.

Harry Seaden started for Cambridge City at home to Heybridge Swifts. He conceded twice in 2-1 defeat.

Zak Pianim started and Ide Osimeh was on the bench for Brentwood against Dereham Town. Osimeh came on for former youth player Anthony Furlonge after 73 minutes with Brentwood already 5-2 down, which ended up the final score.

Harlow Town were at home to Bracknell Town but no Matt Rush, Terrell Egbri or Miles Mitchell-Nelson and it showed as they lost 3-0.

No game today for Sam Knock's Hullbridge Sports.

Drat! I was at that game, didn't realise it was he.

Drat! I was at that game, didn't realise it was he.
He played about 8 games for Wakering last year, saw him for 4 and very impressed, there were scouts from Arsenal and Tottenham watching him, only young but confident and vocal. Great learning curve for younger players

Midweek update:

Michael Klass was on the bench for Bromley's FA Cup replay v Bristol Rovers. He came on for the last 3 minutes but was unable to help them cancel out former loanee Johnson Clarke-Harris' goal for Graham Coughlan's men.

In the Conference South Harry Phillips was on the bench for Billericay for their match against Brandon Goodship's old side. They used all 3 subs but he wasn't one.

No Shane O'Stewart for Margate in the Isthmian Premier. He played for the u23s today in our win v Franchise FC.

No Freddy Eastwood Jr for Canvey. He was on the bench for the u23s today and came on for the last 5 minutes.

No Jon Benton for Great Wakering. Is he injured?

Yes Jon Benton is injured. I saw him in a protective boot at the U23’s yesterday. I gather it’s a small leg fracture. He’s not sure how he did it but it, but it was picked up on a follow-up scan for his previous injury.

Couldn’t quite hear if he was out for 6 weeks or if he needed the boot on for 6 weeks.
