Line Up for next season - including rumours!

I thought that, but looking at his stats 6 goals this season and being shipped to Plymouth where he only scored 2 since January isnt much to write home about.

yeah to be honest his stats aren't brilliant but he has always looked good when i've seen him. just a solid player and might thrive in a new team (aka cureton!)

i'll ask my rangers mate what he reckons about him

Have we seen the last of 'Arauuld'? I sometimes wonder if he is Tilly's love child. Maybe he will go back to Harlow Town and reclaim his level. :)

That was said about Paynter after a few games the crowd got on his back and in the end we farmed him out on loan.

And then surprise suprise after he starts scoring goals (not that many) some people want him back to help the team stay up

Yep, it's a tough sink or swim life being a professional footballer. Some have the balls to work their way through it (Clarke), some don't or can't settle after relocating (Paynter) and some are just plain **** (Carrot Top).

Ok, if the rumours are true, then next seasons side could be shaping up quite nicely...

Flavs *
Francis
Barrett
Clarke *
Granville *
JCR *
Maher
McCormack
Gower *
Byfield *
Foran

Though the * players are ones that may/maynot be here!

If we could get Byfield and another striker to replace Foran, then I am starting to be a bit more optimistic!

Pity we'll have lost Hooper by this reckoning!

I'm pinning at least some of my hopes for next season on a more mature Hooper thriving on regular first-team football and forging a partnership with something we missed deadfully this season - The Professional Big Bloke (would Byfield fit this bill?)

I think the most crucial factor this season was the absence of a PBB. We had obviously planned to fit Ricketts into that hole; then when that was looking pear-shaped Tilly brought in Paynter who for one reason and another never did the job either (I remain convinced he actually has the ability).

Week after week we saw our opponents making use of their PBBs either by getting themselves in front of our CBs to get on the end of crosses (corners and free-kicks especially), or by lumping the ball down the middle and putting the comparitively small Adam Barrett, or the shaky Efe under pressure.

What did we do instead? We got JCR to the byline then gave him no-one to cross to, or we lumped the ball down the middle where the opposition CBs won 90% of the time and we wasted most of the other 10% of the balls.

i'm looking towards a good pre-season and players like Lawson, hooper, harrold and francis to really seize the initiative

I can see Lawson playing for Billericay next season, if not Thurrock, we got better youth team striker than Lawson, he should had build on what he did in the first 2 month in Sept & October last season (2005/06), the problems that he hang around with his chav (loser) mates. He should focus on his football and work hard, but did'nt happen, he cannot get into Dag & Red team while on loans.

Ben Futcher's just been released by Peterborough.
He'd maybe sort out the short-ar5e defenders conceding from corners issues?

Posh doing major rebuilding! Have released Danny Crowe (promising striker with a bad attitude), Trevor Benjamin (Ricketts-esque fall from grace!), Ben Futcher, Mark Butcher (both rated at Lincoln a year or two ago).

With the new chairmans money and Darren Ferguson at the helm, I think the expectation at Posh to go up as Champions next year will be huge. Their chairman genuinely believes they will storm through the divisions and has big plans!!

yeah richard butcher

trevor benjamin has to be worth a look at surely!?

i know he has been a bit of a journeyman in recent times but he is a decent striker.. there is no doubt about that

Probably not L1 class though, especially if we want to be at the business-end of the division. Although to be fair, I bet Col U & Swindon fans have said that about Cureton!

Personally, I say give Foran a chance at League One after a summer of adapting... Thats if he's still here of course.

Being thrown into a squad thats underachieving and, by all intents and purposes, looked dead certs to go down can't be easy and I'd like to see how he fared at League One standard before judging him too heavily as, lets face it, apart from the top 3 or 4 in the SPL League One is about that standard.

Apart from that, I'd like to see Tilly provide some sort of faith in the youth we have here and give Moussa and Hooper their fair share of starts next season... As well as the return of Paynter.
