Leics v Essex

Century up for Foster

Essex win by an innings and plenty, Wright finishing with a 6fer.

Well done to James Foster on his second consecutive undefeated ton. Come on England selectors he has to make the tour to India, even if it is number 2 to Matt Prior.

I would put him as Englands Number 1 not number 2

Until he becomes more consistent with the bat he won't be considered, one ton is not enough, he needs to push his county average towards 40.

I dont think its a bad shout him going as number 2 behind Prior though. Im not sure how Ambrose and Prior got on in their time at Sussex together, but the fact they have been kept apart from the squads (with the distinctly average/poor Mustard being back up) suggests maybe not the best.

Prior looks like he has leapfrogged back to first choice, and completely fair enough Id say, but Foster has been heralded by most as being the best gloveman now so see no reason why he shouldnt go in the touring squad. If he doesnt then he really will have to give up on any hope of getting back into contention.
